Killian stood by the door with Raven standing beside him. They both glanced at each other and then shifted their gaze back to Tessa who was seated in the room she had been in the whole time. She had her back to them so they couldn’t see her reaction to the news they just broke to her about how the duel went. From behind she didn’t even flinch but they knew better. They could hear her heart pounding heavily and skipping multiple beats. They could feel her broken emotions and sadness.
She didn’t utter a word to reply them. She just kept staring at the wall while being fixed on her chair. Trying so hard not to sob in the presence of the kids but failing miserably. Killian balled his hand into a fist, angered by the outcome of the duel and the state that had put his best friend’s mother in. He shifted his attention to Raven, his eyes devoid of emotions. “We should give her some time to be alone” He whispered to her and then walked away.
Raven hesitated for a few seconds, staring at her mate’s mother with guilt in her heart. She felt responsible for the heartbreak and for breaking up the family. Kreed hadn’t spoken to her since the whole thing came to light. She knew he was mad at her and would take a while for him to forgive her if he ever would. ‘What have I done?’ She thought to herself before turning to leave.

“What now?” Diamond questioned, following her father as he made his way to his office. She wasn’t ready to just give up yet. She felt she just finally got what she had wanted for years and now it was ripped from her cruelly. “We can’t just let him leave the pack!” She added, entering into the office with him.
“He’s left already Diamond. There’s nothing we can do now. We can’t change the law to favor him. The pack won’t agree to that. This is a practice that has been done for centuries and we can’t change it now because of our feelings” He explained, taking his seat.
“So what? He’s exiled from the pack forever? We won’t get to see him again?”
“I guess so”
She stood there in awe as reality hit her. Her widened eyes tearing up. She grabbed the chair in front of her, squeezing it with anger. She couldn’t bring herself to believe that just yet. It didn’t seem right. She had lost her mother and she can’t bear to lose the only person she had ever loved also. “He made his choice Diamond”
She slowly looked up at her father with a questioning look “What does that mean?”
“It means Kieran chose his fate. He chose to be exiled instead of his brother”
“I don’t understand” Her brows furrowed.
“Kieran is stronger than Kreed and he could have won that fight if he wanted to. I guess he felt guilty and didn’t want his brother to pay for his mistake”
“That’s not true. Everyone knows Kreed is stronger than Kieran. That has always been the case” She argued
“I guess you guys didn’t know him as well as you think. I trained both of them personally since they were kids. I know the power difference between them. Kreed is strong no doubt…but, Kieran has always been stronger”
“I…..”
She was cut off by the door being flung open and one of the Betas running in. “Alpha! We are under attack” The wolf announced with a worried look.
“What?” Alpha Damien stood up abruptly. He looked out his window and the full moon was still out. It hasn’t even been more than an hour since the duel ended and now they were under attack. “Do we know who we are up against?”
“No. They just showed up at the east border and began killing their way into town”
“Take as many men as you can and go hold them off….”
“Alpha there’s a report of an attack coming from the west border” Another Beta rushed in with his report.
“We are being attacked from both sides” He stated, thinking about what to do. “I’ll take some men to the west border and take care of the east border” He ordered and they nodded and left.
“I’m coming with you dad” Diamond stated
“No. I have another mission for you. Go and look for Tessa and let her know what’s going then stay by her side and help to protect the pack”
“Alright” She nodded. “Please be careful”
“Of course. Stay safe” He replied and then hurried off.

Alpha Damien hurried through the woods with his men behind him. It was almost midnight and the moon was fully bright in the sky, shining his light down and lighting up their paths. They were almost at the border and the woods seemed a little too quiet. Coming out into a little clearing in the middle of the woods, they all came to an abrupt stop when they came face to face with someone in a red robe standing there.
Alpha Damien stared at him with a quizzical gaze, wondering who it was. He hadn’t sensed him or caught its scent which was surprising. “Who the hell are you?”
The mystery person looked up at them and took off the hood covering his face. “I am Scar. It’s an honor to meet you Alpha Damien” He replied.
The wolves behind the Alpha stared at the menacing, glowing red eyes of this mystery person and they felt fear. He didn’t seem like a normal human. There was something off about him. The fact that they couldn’t see half his face added to his mystery. “What do you want?” Alpha Damien asked.
“You. I’m here to kill you. You are an important piece to my plan and it’s time we check that box”
“I see” Alpha Damien bobbed his head and then turned to his men. “Go on ahead and secure the border. I’ll deal with this myself since I’m the one he’s after”
“But Alpha….”
“Don’t worry” He cut them off and then nodded at them. They obeyed and hurried off toward the border. As soon as they were out of sight, he turned to face Scar. “Now it’s just us both”
“You are not a coward…just as expected from a distinguished member of the Black Lotus” Scar pointed out.
“There’s something familiar about you. I can’t quite put my finger on it. Who are you really?”
“I am the chosen one that would bring the justice and peace the Black Lotus once wanted”
“So you’re following the footsteps of the Black Lotus?” Alpha Damien inquired.
“Yes. I’ll admit our group was inspired by the Black Lotus. Your original ideas before human emotions tainted it. We have no ties to human emotions like Devil Eyes once did and hence our ideas can’t be corrupted and that is why we will succeed where you failed” Scar explained with a determined look in his eyes.
“And what is it you hope to achieve?”
“Peace…true peace. One that can’t be tainted. As long as there’s an option, true peace can never be acquired. That is why we want to eliminate that choice. Different race, different clan, different opinions and different pain are the source of everything bad in our world now. Crescent wolves, Direwolves, different species. But with one specie, one clan, one choice and one pain, true peace can be achieve” Scar explained
“You might be right….but that is the way of the world and it can’t be changed. There’s no way you can force everyone to have one opinion and feel the same pain” He argued
“You’ll be surprised at what I can do. It starts with your death. Just as your wife’s death has propelled us further towards our goal…”
“What?” His eyes widened with shock on hearing those words.
“Too bad you won’t be alive to see the new world we are going to create”
“You bastard” His eyes began glowing red, his fangs and claws out.
“Yes…I can see the pain in your eyes now”
“You’ll pay for what you did!” The Alpha growled angrily and dashed toward Scar.
