I. The Return to the Chamber
After Anyanka disappeared into the twilight, Serenity and Ángel stood for a moment at the cave entrance, looking south toward Gaya.
"Are you ready?" asked Ángel.
"I don't know," Serenity answered honestly. "But I have to try."
They took a step to leave, but then a voice resonated behind them.
"Not yet."
They turned. Anyanka was again at the cave entrance, with a serious expression.
"There is something more you must see before you go. Something that will help you understand what you are about to face."
Serenity and Ángel exchanged a glance, but followed her without hesitation.
They returned inside the cave, descending through passageways they hadn't seen before, until they reached a circular chamber lit by blue-flamed torches. In the center, on a pedestal of black stone, rested an ancient chest of wood blackened by centuries.
"What you are about to see," said Anyanka in a grave voice, "has remained hidden for millennia. Only the chosen can know its contents."
She opened the chest. Inside, a rolled papyrus, tied with a red velvet ribbon, seemed to pulse with its own energy.
II. The First Prophecy
Anyanka took the papyrus with trembling hands. Her eyes, white as the moon, traced the glowing symbols covering the parchment.
"This papyrus," she said, "is written in the language of the ancient gods. A language no human has spoken in thousands of years. But I... I can read it."
She unrolled the parchment with great care. The air around her seemed to become denser, more sacred.
"Listen," she said. "This is the prophecy of the stars."
And with a slow, solemn voice, Anyanka began to read:
"In future times, seven stars shall gather on an exact date.
Stars descended from shadows that will change the destiny of the heavens.
When the sun shines brightest, they will come to destroy everything.
For they are the path toward a new beginning.
Among them, one star will shine brighter than all,
but its light will not awaken until it extinguishes its stars.
She will be the bridge between heaven and shadows.
Light and darkness cannot coexist.
Light and darkness are one.
Light and darkness depend on each other.
Light and darkness... need each other."
The silence that followed was absolute.
Serenity felt every word resonate deep within her being, as if the prophecy had been written with her in mind.
"What does it mean?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.
Anyanka looked at her intently.
"It means that you, Serenity, are that star. The one that will shine brighter than all. And that your destiny is tied to darkness as much as to light."
Ángel stepped forward.
"And us? What role do we play in all this?"
"Each of you has a purpose," Anyanka replied. "But first, you must prove yourselves worthy of your destiny."
III. The Choice of the Object
Anyanka led them through another passageway until they reached a hidden chamber. In the center, an underground lake of crystalline waters reflected the torchlight, creating a hypnotic effect of lights and shadows.
"At the bottom of this lake," said Anyanka, "there is a secret room. There you will find mystical objects, relics of the ancient stars. Each of you must choose the one that resonates with your soul. That object will guide you on your path."
Serenity and Ángel exchanged a glance. Then, without hesitation, Serenity dove in.
The water was cold, but not unpleasant. She descended to the bottom, where she found a stone door that opened when she touched it. On the other side, a circular room filled with objects: swords that emitted their own light, books bound in dragon skin, jewels that sparkled like stars, scrolls with unknown symbols.
But one shone with a special light.
A shield. Of pure silver, decorated with diamonds that sparkled like living constellations. In its center, a golden gem pulsed with a rhythmic beat, like a heart.
Serenity reached out and touched it.
And the world disappeared.
IV. The Vision of the Past
She saw everything in an instant.
The palace of Paris, engulfed in flames. Her mother, Ana, smiling at her from her deathbed. Her father, O'Connor, with Arman's sword piercing his chest. Two girls, one older and one younger, running with her in their arms toward a dark passage.
She saw Sakura, her older sister, her violet eyes full of tears but determination etched on her face. She saw Sakura leaving her in the arms of an elderly couple in a forest cabin, whispering: "Someday I will come back for you."
She saw Amelia, the middle sister, wrapped in a blanket as she slept in Sakura's arms. She saw them leaving her in a great mansion, with a family that would take her in without knowing who she really was.
And then, she saw the present.
Sakura, turned into a warrior, leading a group of rebels somewhere in the north. Her sword shone with its own light, and her violet eyes looked south with a mixture of hope and pain.
Amelia, locked in a mansion surrounded by books, with a power she didn't understand. The walls of her room were covered in runes she had drawn herself, trying to control something that escaped her.
And Lans, the white-winged warrior, standing on a tower in Isagar, looking west with a white flower in his hand.
The vision faded.
Serenity opened her eyes. She was back in the chamber, the shield in her hands and her face bathed in tears.
"I saw it all," she whispered. "My past. My sisters. And... Lans."
"Lans?" asked Ángel, who had just emerged from the water with a curved knife in his hand.
"A warrior," Serenity replied, drying her tears. "I don't know who he is, but I've seen him. And I know I'll see him again."
Anyanka nodded, with a sad smile.
"Destiny will unite you when the time comes. For now, you must focus on your sisters."
Serenity looked at the shield in her hands. Now she understood everything.
"I will go to Gaya," she said with determination. "I will find Amelia."
V. The Return to the Surface
They climbed back to the surface. The sun was beginning to rise over the forest, painting the sky in golden and pink tones.
Anyanka accompanied them to the cave entrance. There, she stopped and looked at them intently.
"Remember," she said. "The prophecy is not a destiny written in stone. It is a map. And you decide which way to walk."
"Will we see you again?" asked Serenity.
"Destiny will tell," Anyanka replied with an enigmatic smile.
And with that, she turned and went into the cave, disappearing into the twilight.
Serenity and Ángel looked at each other. Then, without a word, they began to walk south.
Toward Gaya.
Toward Amelia.
Toward the future.
VI. Epilogue: The First Step
That night, as they camped by a small stream, Serenity took out the shield and looked at it by moonlight. It still glowed, more intensely than ever.
"Do you think we'll find her?" asked Ángel.
"I know it," she replied, with a certainty that surprised even herself. "I will find Amelia. And then... we will find Sakura."
Somewhere in the north, Sakura felt a chill. She sat up in her camp bed and looked south.
"Something has changed," she murmured.
And in a mansion in Gaya, Amelia closed the book she was reading and looked out the window. The stars shone brighter than ever.
"Who are you?" she whispered to the sky.
No one answered.
But in the wind, a voice whispered her name.
