Rosemary Teagan, trying to hide her frustration, fumbled with her phone, though she acknowledged to the people in front of her that there was no cellular service this far into the mountains. Rose color crept into her cheeks. Rosemary glanced again in the direction of the canyon, squinting, hoping to see the missing member on his way.
All of the other attendees had promptly arrived at the helipad and had taken their seats. But ten minutes had elapsed and there was still no sign of Bruno. Danica Hornick volunteered to retrieve him and sprinted away from the group. The others disbanded, wandering atop the plateau and gazing at the distant ocean.
