Chapter 18
Azucara stood in Sodius’s office and told him about the vegetable monsters and their affinity for milkshakes. Sodius hovered over his desk as she told him the story with a far-gone gaze.
Azucara pointed to a projection on the wall triangulating the location where she found the bell pepper.
“If we can find them all…we can—Hmm.”
Sodius stared at the wall and through it at the same time.
Azucara slapped the table to get his attention.
“Why do I get the feeling that you don’t care about a word I say?”
“All of this is duly noted,” Sodius said. “However, other matters have come to my attention to which you will need to respond, Azucara. After my outburst last time, I presumed that you deserved my silence.”
“I’m in the middle of something. You can’t pull me away from this,” Azu
