When Elle got home, she realized for the first time that it was her twenty-first birthday. It had only been a matter of days since she had been brought into the world of werewolves and magic but it felt like she had been through a whole lifetime. As Landry pulled their car up to the front of the house, Ellery saw the lights on and she half expected her mom to come out and greet her.
It had, after all, been a while since she had been home. And they didn’t normally go that long without seeing each other. But the truck was in the driveway, and Elle didn’t see any movement inside the house. “It’s my birthday,” Elle said softly as they got out of the car.
Landry glanced at her, surprised. “No, it’s not. Your birthday was this weekend and it’s only----”
