Her Second Chance Mate

A Luna Ceremony?!?

Jake and I walked towards the location that the ceremony was being held in. 

“Kind of looks like there’s an actual ceremony of some sort going on. Like…” Jake started.

“Like a Luna ceremony.” I finished as I caught a glimpse of Carson standing on the makeshift stage, a woman standing with her hand out as an elder cut her palm. Asking her if she will uphold her duties as Luna and care for the pack as her own. Carson’s palm was already sliced and the elder joined their hands together. While not part of their pack we still felt the force as it went out over everyone in attendance as the woman became Carson’s Luna. 

“Holy shit.” Jake whispered, staring up at Carson. “He sure has…”

“Grown.” I stated, staring at Carson. It had been a long two years since we last saw him. And even though I had found my second chance mate, he still made my heart flip. 

It means nothing! Rose yelled. He is not our mate.

Then why do I feel this? Like, my heart is breaking?

You loved him once…

Yeah and he broke us many times before. I rejected him. 

Maybe you’re sad over what happened with Connor?

That must be it! I agreed with her. 

Jake and I stood back, watching as the ceremony finished, Carson kissing his Luna and clapped along with the crowd. I suddenly felt an arm wrap around my waist, Connor’s scent invaded my nose and pulled me back to reality. 

I leaned into Connor, forgetting about being angry with him, as he buried his face into my neck and inhaled my scent. “I am sorry love.” He whispered.

“It is I that should be sorry.” Jake’s voice spoke out just above a whisper. I lifted my head, and looked at him. 

I quickly removed myself from Connor’s hands and took a step away. I needed to keep my wits about me. His face fell as I put space between us. 

“Jake there is nothing for you to be sorry about. Not to Connor anyway.” I said to him, while shooting a look at Connor. 

He nodded his head, “Is Seth, did he, come?” He asked. 

Connor looked at him with a stern face.

“Connor….Is Seth here?” i asked him, getting annoyed with his attitude towards Jake.

“It depends, is he just going to run away again like a little b***h?” Connor spoke between his teeth.

A small growl escaped my lips, as i grabbed Jakes arm and pulled him away.

“Nikki!” Connor yelled.

“f**k off Connor!” I spoked back to him as I continued to walk away.

“Come on, let’s go to the hall. Ceremony is already over anyway.” I stated pulling Jake along with me. “We will find Seth.”

“Nikki, I don’t think I can stay right now.” Jake tried to protest.

I stopped walking and turned to him. “Jake, we will find Seth, and you will make things better with him. You said you wanted to give it a chance. Well, you have to suck it up and give it a chance then.”

“You know, you were always sexiest when you are bossy.” He said with a smirk.

“Shut up you i***t, we are searching for your mate!” 

“Yes ma’am.” He mock saluted.

We walked towards the hall, hearing the chatter and laughter of guests inside. 

“Nikki, are you okay?” Jake asked. 

I smiled at him, “Of course I am, why wouldn’t I be?”

“You’re fighting with your mate because of me.”

“No, I’m fighting with another Alpha for speaking of and towards a member of my pack a certain way. I protect everyone in my pack, you know that. Even if you are my Gamma and could handle your own. You are part of my pack and I’m not going to let anyone talk to you or about you in any negative way.”

“But still…”

“Don’t worry about me Jake, I’m a big girl. I can handle my own. I’ve done it before, I can do it again.”

“You don’t mean…”

“If that’s what it comes to, then...I’ll have no other choice. Now hush, tonight is about you getting your mate to forgive you.” 

We stopped outside the hall, I fixed his collar and smiled up at him. “I’m not sorry for our past, just know you’ll always have a place in my heart as one of my best friends.” 

“Same for you Nikki, I’ll never leave your side or step down as your Gamma.” 

We smiled at each other and he pulled the doors open so we could walk in together. 

The hall was decorated in the pack’s colors of gold and hunter green. The tables have hunter green clothes, the dishes and utensils all gold. Fairy lights decorated the hall, and candles placed on every table. It was beautiful, and showed how much this new Luna cared about her pack and welcoming new packs with such a beautiful space.

“Nikki…” Jake said, while stopping in his spot.

Turning my head towards him I felt a presence come up behind me. 

“Looks like you still have to sit with me.” Connor’s voice was husky and held a mixture of anger and regret. 

I ignored him and walked towards the table. 

“Max, I thought I told you to get our seating changed.”

“I tried, but mother…”

“I told them to not do such a thing. We already changed the way the camps were and had them mingle our seats. We will not be the pack that demands changes every 10 minutes. You are an Alpha, act it.”

My mother reprimanded me, causing me to pout. 

“She is right.” I stated. “Max, move your seat to the other side of Hannah.” I told him. 

“Uh, ok.”

He got up and moved his seat. Causing him to sit between Hannah and Connor. I then sat next to Hannah and pulled Jake to sit next to me. Which to his luck put him right next to Seth. My mother, had herself seated between Seth and Stacey and Connor sat next Stacey.

“Children.” My mother said, rolling her eyes.  

“Men.” I stated causing the other girls, besides my mother to chuckle. 

“Nikki…” Connor started before he was interrupted by someone picking up a mic.

“WELCOME everyone to not only the 10th annual Warrior Tournament, but to the Black Moon’s Luna Ceremony!” Clapping and shouts started throughout the hall. 

I could see the uncomfortable faces of my pack mixed in with Connor’s. In that moment I was thankful my mother didn’t allow the packs to be separated. My members had been waiting for this moment to see Carson again for 2 years and having their new pack members with them would be good for them. I glance over at Connor and saw him staring at me with love in his eyes. I shot him a small smile and turned my attention back towards the stage.

“Before we switch the evening towards the dinner for the tournament, let’s take a moment to welcome our host pack Alpha Carson and his new Luna Shauna!” 

Once their names were out of his mouth the double doors leading outside were opened and in walked Carson and Shauna. Everyone stood up and cheered. I stood with my table, clapping as I continued to look over my members. I nodded at a few of them, making sure they stood. 

Carson and his mate walked to the center of the dance floor as a slow song started. They swayed back and forth in a slow motion as we all watched. At first his back was towards me. But as they moved about, he slowly faced me and that’s when his eyes locked with mine.
