CHAPTER TEN

••••• "What's are you doing here?" Bryce shouted again. He looks totally different from the chill, calm Bryce I have come to know. His fist tightened to a ball, anger written all over his face making me wonder what's really wrong. "That's no way to talk to your father, young man." Bryce's dad says slowly like if he talked higher than that he's going to get jumped by Bryce. "I can't recall a time you have acted as a dad to me." Bryce voice comes out louder than before. "That's rude Bryce, besides Melanie is here." She offers me a warm smile, I smiled awkwardly back. He turns to me, probably realizing I'm still here, almost immediately he drags me, I yanked my bag off the counter, in no time I was outside, Bryce closing the door behind me. "What was that about?" I asked, removing my hand from his grip. I folded my arms as it's chilly outside. "None of your business." He said rather rudely. I was taken aback by his harsh words. "I w..." Rudely interrupted. "Here's the deal, you stay out of my business and I'd stay out of yours." He said intensively. "Fine." I yelled. "Fine." With that the door was slammed. What's wrong with him? I walked over to my house in anger, I opened the door, closing it behind me. "Why are you pissed off?" My eyes immediately wandered to the owner of that voice. Its Nate, thank goodness, I informed him about our project. He is smirking, probably excited that I'm coming back from Bryce's house angry. What a child. "Should I go beat his ass?" He raised his eyebrows. Oh please. "I can handle it." I gave a fake smile. "What are you doing here?" I tried hard not roll my eyes. "I miss my girlfriend, got movies." Yay, play the good boyfriend role, so fake. "Cool." Tired of my fake smiles, I just nodded. ~~~~ Bryce's point of view. I slammed the door, I walked into the living room only to see my sorry excuse of a father. "I can't believe you are with him." I looked at my mum in disappointment, why am I disappointed? She always come back to him. "Bryce, your dad.." I interrupted. "You know, I thought what happened that night was enough for you to realize that he doesn't care, but I guess you are just blind." I yelled, I felt Brooklyn hold my arm. "Don't talk to your mum like that." I turned to the bastard pissed, my sister tugging my shirt. "Bryce, come on let's go." I heard my sister's voice but paid no attention. "Who are you to tell me what to do?" I lunged at him but stopped by my mum. I looked at my mum in disgust, knowing we have lost the strong and independent woman, I once knew. "He would leave again, like he always do." With that I left. ~~~~ I laid on my bed, throwing a ball up as I heard someone enter. "Hey bro." I heard my sister's voice. I sat up only to see my sister crying. "What's wrong?" I asked as my sister sits on my bed. I felt my heart hurt, seeing the most important person in my life in tears. "I'm sorry." She mutters. I looked at her in confusion. "I never got to say thank you for what you did that night in the car?" She sobs. I can't stand her crying anymore. "Broke, its..." "No, thank you so much.." She looks at me. "And I'd do it again, You really don't need to thank me." Iraised her chin with my finger. "Love you so much bro." I smiled as she hugs me. "Are they getting back together?" She withdrawals. Worry in her features, as she tries to come off as unaffected. "Look soon enough, we won't have to put up with their on and off relationship." I smiled. "How's that?" She looks at me confused. "Well, I'm gonna be eighteen in 2 months time, I can finally have the beach house willed to me by grand ma, we can both move to Miami, I would be old enough to take care of you, I'd get a job." I looked at my sister who is already smiling. "I'd love that." She smiles. "Can I stay here tonight?" She asks. "Of course." I smiled as threw a ball at her. ~~~~ Melanie's point of view Nate left hours ago, thankfully. I think its 2 in the morning, I can't sleep. Like always. I stood up from my bed and headed towards my window, I opened it looking at the silent street of out neighborhood, just then I spotted someone sitting open grass not far away from my house, I know that person. Its Bryce. I closed my window, taking out an hoodie to protect me from the chilly night. I found my self heading outside my house, why? Well, I don't know. I stopped when I was almost near Bryce, he looks up at me. "Why are you still awake princess?" "Why are you awake?" I asked him too. "Look, I'm sorry for yelling at you." He said as I sat beside him on the grass. "Its okay." I smiled. "No, it's not." His apology is so sincere not like the ones Nate gives after he as screwed things up. "Really it is I shouldn't have meddled in family drama, I wouldn't like it someone meddled in mine." I turned facing him. I gulped down noticing our faces and are inches apart, everywhere quiet my heart racing. My eyes gulped to his, I saw him look down to my lips. I panicked breaking the silence "The stars looks beautiful tonight." I looked up smiling nervously. "I agree." He muttered as I laid on the grass. Bryce lays next to me, I don't know how that's possible but I felt comfortable with him next to. Fear rushing down my spine. Why do I feel comfortable around him. The sleep that eluded me came rushing in as my eyes became heavy.
