CHAPTER 20 Lynn brought with her to the library some notes from Larry’s journal, including those about a Salty O’Rourke, the drifter interviewed by one paper for their attempted “Mystery Woman” Angle, the fellow who said he saw an unidentified woman leave “The Sterling” that next morning when it returned with Foote’s body. She found the small town papers inferior, having covered the story with re-hashed material. But after two hours, she spotted an unrelated article in the “Catalina Gazette,” Written three weeks after Foote’s death. It was an interview with a young scientist, Edward Gibson, concerned with the disappearance of his uncle, “Pop” Gibson, a drifter who frequented the Catalina area. Young Gibson went on to explain his uncle, a “Carefree” type who “Tended to go on a bender,”
