MORGANA'S POV The chamber was dark except for the pale moonlight spilling through the open window. For several terrifying seconds, I could only see a shadow climbing silently over the ledge. My heartbeat instantly accelerated. Every frightening possibility rushed into my mind at once. A rogue wolf? An assassin? A thief? The rebels from Namalia? I didn't even stop to think. Instinct took over. I grabbed the nearest thing beside my bed, my heavy embroidered slipper, and hurled it toward the intruder with all my strength. THUD! “Ow—!” The shadow lost balance immediately and disappeared from the window. A loud crash echoed from outside. I froze. Silence followed. My eyes widened. “Oh Moon Goddess…” I whispered in horror. Did I just kill someone? I rushed toward the window so quickly my loose robe nearly tangled around my legs. When I reached the ledge and looked down, I finally saw the intruder standing below the wall, rubbing his forehead painfully. Unfortunately he wasn't dead. The man lifted his head toward my chamber and muttered something too softly for me to hear. At that exact moment, a maid outside my chamber knocked anxiously on the door. “Mistress? Are you alright?” I ignored her completely while squinting into the darkness below to hear what the intruder was saying. The shadow finally spoke louder. “Little kitten... it's me.” My soul nearly left my body. Zack. ZACK?! My expression twisted violently. Heavens above. This little devil truly refused to let me live peacefully for even one night. My very first instinct was to scream for the guards. Thief! Rogue! Intruder! Let the entire mansion witness the famous Ninth Gentle Prince climbing through an unmarried lady's window in the middle of the night. I could already imagine the scandal. What gentleness? What elegance? Zack was clearly a nighttime bandit. A shameless wolf sneaking into maiden chambers beneath moonlight. “Mistress?” the maid called again nervously. “Did something happen?” I clenched my fists. Then slowly…Reasonings returned. No. Calling the guards would be pointless. I knew Zack too well. If he got caught, he would simply lower his eyes sadly and say something outrageous like. "Tomorrow is our mating ceremony. I missed my future mate terribly and lost control of my emotions. Please forgive me this once." Then everyone would sigh emotionally and praise his devotion. Some old noblewomen might even cry. Meanwhile I would somehow become the unreasonable one. The more I thought about it, the angrier I became. “I'm fine,” I finally replied stiffly to the maid. “I only got up to drink water. You may return to sleep.” The maid hesitated before footsteps slowly retreated down the corridor. Outside the window, Zack had already begun climbing back up the wall. My eyes widened in disbelief. His movements were swift and practiced, fingers gripping the stone effortlessly like a wolf scaling cliffs. Suspiciously practiced. “How many maiden windows has he climbed through before?” I muttered darkly. By the time I reached the window again, half his body had already entered my chamber. Immediately, I slammed the window shut against him. “Little devil!” I hissed angrily. “Why are you here?” Zack grunted softly as the window trapped him halfway. One hand braced against the frame while the other casually held out my slipper toward me. “Tomorrow is our wedding,” he said sweetly. Too sweetly. “My heart missed you terribly. I rolled around unable to sleep, so naturally I came to see you.” I stared at him expressionlessly. Naturally? Normal people did not climb walls at midnight to visit women. “But instead of welcoming your future husband warmly, you attacked me with footwear.” Zack complained dramatically,l He leaned closer pitifully. “Look at my forehead. It's swollen.” Good. “You deserve worse,” I snapped. “Be grateful I threw a slipper. If I had thrown my water jug instead, your head would've split open.” Zack frowned deeply. Yet somehow he still looked entertained. I continued pushing the window against him, refusing to let him enter. “If you don't allow me inside, I may lose my grip and fall again. If the lower half of my body becomes crippled, your future happiness will disappear forever.” He sighed tragically. “Then fall,” I replied coldly. I shoved the window harder why Zack immediately grabbed the frame with both hands before suddenly pausing. His golden eyes lowered slowly. Toward my chest. A dangerous smile appeared on his face. “You aren't wearing undergarments?” My body froze. Instantly, I looked down. My loose sleeping robe had slipped open during the struggle, exposing far too much skin beneath the moonlight. The summer humidity had been unbearable tonight, so I wore almost nothing underneath. Heat exploded across my face. Quickly, I let go of the window and clutched my robe closed with both hands. And that…that was my fatal mistake. Like the cunning wolf he was, Zack immediately took advantage of my distraction. Before I could react, he slipped through the window gracefully and landed inside my chamber. “Zack!” I shouted. The shameless devil ignored me completely. Instead, he casually strolled toward my bed before throwing himself onto it comfortably like he owned the room. “Ah,” he sighed dramatically while stretching. “Much better.” My eye twitched violently. “Get off my bed!” I stormed toward him furiously, reaching to drag him down. But Zack only laughed and rolled away across the mattress before I could grab him. His laughter filled the dark chamber–warm, lazy, and infuriatingly attractive. “Mistress?” the maid's worried voice suddenly called again from outside. “Are you alright?” I opened my mouth to answer, But before I could speak, Zack suddenly grabbed my wrist. With one swift movement, he pulled me directly onto the bed beside him. I gasped softly as his arms wrapped around my waist tightly. “Zack!” He only smiled wickedly. “I dare you to scream, little kitten,” he whispered beside my ear. Warm breath brushed against my skin. My face instantly burned hot. Thankfully the room remained dark enough to hide my embarrassment. Otherwise this devil would mock me endlessly. Unexpectedly, his large hand lifted and brushed lightly against my cheek. His fingers were warm. Dangerously warm. “Your face feels hot,” he murmured softly. A pause. Then amusement entered his voice. “Are you blushing?” Humiliation exploded through me. Without hesitation, I grabbed his wrist and bit down hard on his hand. “AH—!” Zack jerked immediately. Good. Served him right. But instead of pushing me away, the shameless wolf laughed breathlessly. “Morgana,” he hissed. “You truly bite harder than actual wolves.” Since one hand remained trapped between my teeth, Zack attempted using his free hand to retaliate and tickle my waist. Unfortunately for both of us, his hand accidentally pressed against a sensitive spot near my Ass. My body jerked instantly. A startled sound escaped my throat before I could stop it. Zack froze. I froze. Then his expression slowly changed. His eyes darkened mischievously. “Oh?” he murmured. I immediately released his hand and glared murderously at him. Outside the chamber, the maid finally panicked. “Mistress?!” The door suddenly pushed open. Zack reacted instantly. Before the maid could see clearly, he yanked down the long beaded curtains surrounding the bed. The strands cascaded around us, creating a shimmering barrier between the bed and the rest of the room. The maid entered cautiously carrying a small lantern. But the chamber remained mostly dark, and the hanging curtains obscured everything beyond vague shadows. “Mistress,” the maid asked nervously, “are you alright?” I sat frozen against Zack's chest while his arm remained firmly around my waist beneath the blankets. His heartbeat was steady. Annoyingly steady. Meanwhile mine threatened to explode. “Why were there strange noises coming from your chamber?” the maid continued hesitantly. Zack lowered his head beside my ear. And the shameless wolf–Actually started shaking with silent laughter.
