It was Alex. She narrowed her eyes at him, wondering what he would be doing here at the meeting. “Does he want to make trouble?” she thought to herself. “Everyone, this is Alex Grey, our project manager,” Mr. Sanchez announced, gesturing towards Alex with a nod. She raised an eyebrow, her eyes fixed on Alex with suspicion. “Why him of all people? She whispered to herself, her lips barely moving. She let out a deep sigh, her shoulders sagging slightly in disappointment. Forcing a smile, she extended her hands towards the conference table, her arm straight and her palm facing upwards. “Of course, let's take our seats,” she said, her tone polite but lacking enthusiasm. As she walked towards the table, her eyes briefly met Alex's, and she met his suspicious smile before she looked away. Alex, seemingly oblivious to her reservations, smiled warmly and took a seat, his eyes scanning the room with an air of confidence. Alex sat close to Mr. Sanchez, facing Patricia, who sat close to Anna. Anna put on the computer, and the projector displayed pictures on the screen. “Thank you, Anna,” Patricia said as she walked over to the screen. She pointed to the images on the screen, and her voice was confident and professional. “As you can see, Mr. Sanchez, the design we've created for your new headquarters building is a testament to our team's expertise and creativity.” She clicked to the next slide, revealing a detailed floor plan. “The building will have a total of 10 floors, with a spacious lobby and reception area, state-of-the-art conference facilities, and ample parking space.” Mr. Sanchez leaned forward, his eyes scanning the plans intently. “I like what I see,” he said, his voice deep. “But I want to make sure it's worth the investment. What kind of ROI are we looking at?” Patricia smiled, anticipating the question. “Our estimates suggest a significant increase in property value and rental income, not to mention the enhanced reputation and prestige that come with owning a cutting-edge building in the heart of the city.” Alex nodded in agreement, his eyes never leaving Mr. Sanchez's face. “We've run the numbers, and we're confident that this project will be a sound investment for you, Mr. Sanchez.” The room fell silent again, the tension palpable as Mr. Sanchez weighed his options. Patricia held her breath, her heart pounding in her chest. She knew that this project was a make-or-break moment for her career, and she was determined to see it through to success. Mr. Sanchez nodded slowly, his eyes still fixed on the plans. “I like it,” he said finally, his voice firm. “But I want to make one thing clear. I want this building to be the best. I want it to be a landmark and a symbol of my success. I don't want any corners cut or any expenses spared. Can you deliver that?” Patricia felt a surge of excitement and relief. “Absolutely, Mr. Sanchez. We'll make sure that every detail is meticulously planned and executed. We'll use only the highest-quality materials and the latest technology to ensure that your building is a masterpiece," she said with confidence. Alex nodded in agreement, his eyes locking onto Patricia's. “We'll make it happen, Mr. Sanchez. We'll create a building that exceeds your expectations and sets a new standard for excellence in the city.” Mr. Sanchez smiled a small, satisfied smile. “Good,” he said. “I knew I could count on you, Patricia. You've always delivered top-notch work. I expect nothing but the best from you and your team.” Patricia felt so proud and determined. She knew that this project was going to be a challenge, but she was ready for it. She was ready to push herself and her team to the limit in order to create something truly extraordinary. “Thank you, Mr. Sanchez,” she said, her voice sincere. “We won't let you down.” The meeting ended with better results than she had expected. Mr. Sanchez left the office. Anna and Patricia shouted at the top of their voices in excitement, they hit their hands together continuously as they jumped as well. After some clapping, their hands were still clung together, and they turned to see Alex staring at them. They released their hands and rearranged their posture. There, Anna leaves the office, leaving both of them in the office. Patricia felt uneasy about working with Alex. Alex coughed, trying to get her attention. She looks at him. “Is there a problem?” she asks. He walked towards her, and her heartbeat increased rapidly as he came closer to her. His pace stopped in front of her and his eyes locked onto hers with a playful glint. “We will do a great job working as a team, I can tell you," he said teasingly. She gave a smile. “Of course, why not? Now, if you please excuse me, I have work to do." She attempted to walk past him, her shoulders squaring and her hips swaying slightly as she moved. But he was quick, his hand reached out to catch her elbow, and he pulled her back. His fingers wrapped around her arm, and he drew her back to face him. She stared at him curiously, wondering what he might do next. “What are you doing?” she asked. He leaned in, his face inches from hers, his eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled. “I'm not letting you get away that easily,” he whispered as his breath danced across her skin. She felt a shiver run down her spine as his gaze softly dropped to her lips, his eyes lingering there for a moment before returning to her eyes. “We've got a lot of work to do, and I need your full attention, he said with his voice low and husky. She felt her heart skip a beat as he drew her in closer, his fingers tightening around her arm. “Let's get started, shall we?” he asked, his eyes sparkling with mischief. “I do not want to work with you or be near you,” she protested, her voice caught in her throat. “It's not like you have a choice to make,” he said as he released her, and she angrily led herself out of the conference room. She shut the door and laid herself on the door, letting out a deep sigh. “Oh goodness, this is bad,” she murmured to herself.
