The Mysterious Giver

1385 Words
The next morning, Aurora's heart beats fast, while she was on her way to school for studies, she is always scared of men in Riverstone High School due to their facial appearance and their way of dressing. A light boy walked up to her. This was the same boy. Zayn Hunter. He was putting on earrings. Aurora Froze. She was alone on the road, insecure. Fear tightened her chest. He was a student of Riverstone High, yet he lacked unnecessary confidence. She knew his name. Zayn Hunter. Everyone liked him, even the teacher and the principal. He is always lively and entertaining in the school environment. But for that, he was just a mysterious, arrogant boy. He went up, with a smile playing on his lips. "Hi, Beautiful." Aurora began to feel a flush on the nape of her neck. Her face looks shy. "Do you know me from anywhere?" She asked, her eyes looking at him. His smile widened. "Yes, you are the new girl the principal introduced to us." "What do you want from me?" she asked, a sign of disregard in her voice. "Calm, asphalt," he said, his voice was less crashing. "I am here only to befriend you." "Thank you," Aurora muttered, desperate to escape. She looked at her watch. "I am late for class." With this, she turned and left, not waiting for the response. "We will catch up later!" Zayn said that to her, his tone is surprisingly gentle. Aurora offered a quick wave, not to look back. She moved towards the school gate. She was too late. She saw the principal Jackson looking at her from a far distance. "I am sorry for coming late to school," Aurora apologized, moving forward. "I was assisting my mother with other things, and it took more time than I thought." She had to lie so she wouldn't be seen as a girl who is not serious, but she needed an excuse. The principal just bowed her head so you couldn't see her face, which made her seem shy. Aurora flustered into the room. As she went up to her desk, there was a clear flower. Under the petals was a small note in a folded form. "Who has left a fair flower here for me?" Curious and a bit scared, she asked herself. She called her friends (Anna, Precious, and Victoria) and they came immediately. I beg your pardon, did someone of you drop these to me? Said Aurora, pointing to the flower and the note. All of them said no. Anna smiled. Perhaps somebody is pining over you! Aurora used the eye roll. I do not care who he is. She reflected on that smug look of Zayn and his creepy remark of the previous day. And now here is something you must remember, Aurora, and that is, not all men are alike, said Anna. She looked around the room, and her facial expression changed. I am afraid of being heartbroken, she mumbled. I do not want to disappoint my mother and Daddy. Precious came near and, more so, took hold of the hands of Aurora. When you are dating the right person, you will not get heartbreak. Aurora read over the note. The letters were not written by hand but typed. Her finger pointed toward the fact that the letters are typed. Had it been written, they would have known who it was. Back on her desk, she placed the flower and note. They ought to go to the school cafeteria, she wanted to get rid of some obvious questions. Aurora and her three friends were on their way to the cafeteria. She saw him laughing among several boys at the entrance and looked at her. There was a gleam in his curly locks. It was Zayn who saw her. And made a quick way to her. You did not wait for me so that we could go to school together, she laughed playfully. There was some excuse, Aurora tried to make herself sound firm: "I was late. And I am new. I would not like them to look at me as a lazy student who is not serious about studies." Zayn gave his soft smile and said, "No, no." So he passed her then, and shook hands with Anna, Precious, and Victoria unexpectedly, naming them. "Hey, Zayn!" In exclamation, Precious said, wide-eyed. It has been a long time since I last saw you! Is he familiar with you guys? What is the matter? Exclaimed it was Aurora. The three girls answered with a nod. Precious confirmed, "Zayn has known us since our junior class," and we know much about his way of living and more." Anna came up with, "He is very brilliant, friendly, and does not talk a lot in class. He is loved by everyone, including the Principal." Aurora frowned. "He wants to become a friend?" Her voice had a hint of suspicion in it. This was taken into consideration by her friends. Not that there was something wrong with it, it was a matter of friendship, Victoria shrugged. The two went into the busy cafeteria. All of a sudden, a little boy appeared before Aurora, holding a great basket. It was decorated lavishly using red paper and was stuffed with things: three packets of food, some drinks, some chocolate boxes, ice cream, and a love letter pinned to it. "Who gave you those things?" Aurora addressed the boy in a hard tone and looked at him, wide-eyed in surprise and an internal rising feeling of uneasiness. "Return it. Tell the person to do it himself." Her three friends looked at her, their faces falling. Precious turned, trying to convince her to accept the lavish gifts. But Aurora was curious. What if she didn't like him after taking all this? Let him show himself. She turned and walked away towards a table. Anna looked at the delivery boy. "Let me have it," she said. "I will give it to Aurora." At their seat, the three girls tried to confuse Aurora, telling her to accept the package of gifts. Aurora was still scared. She did not know who was doing all these things. Her friends, though, cheered her up, urging her to eat the packages. Even though she didn't know the exact sender. They ate some of the snacks. When they finished, they headed to class to pack their bags. Her friends continued to cheer her up, trying to boost her spirits as they walked towards the exit. Reaching home, Aurora greeted her mummy and Daddy. She gushed about school, how it was going, and how stressful it was. Her mother then made a statement that sent a shock of fear through Aurora. "Don't try to collect things from someone you don't know." Aurora froze. Had her mother somehow found out about the gifts? She almost confessed everything. But her mother just continued speaking, seemingly oblivious. She had just spoken a general piece of advice. Relief, cold and immediate, washed over Aurora. That night, Aurora called her friends. "We need to find out who is always sending me gifts," she told them urgently. Precious, Anna, and Victoria all agreed. They promised to help her get the anonymous giver. But Precious, always the smartest, already had a guess. "It has to be Zayn," she said. "He has been the only man coming around to greet you. And he tried to befriend you this morning." Aurora thought about it. Precious was right. No other man had pursued her. Only Zayn had approached her, and it was only since then that different gifts and presents had been sent. "But why is he scared to walk up to me to gift himself?" Anna asked, confused. Aurora scoffed. "Because he knew I won't collect it from him." The three girls were surprised. Zayn had never shown fear in class before. He was always confident in the class. Why was he scared of Aurora? I will face him, Aurora said, and her voice was strong, and renewed force went into her tones. "Tomorrow." Her friends reacted, reminding her to ensure that she was doing the right thing. The decision was taken, however, in the mind of Aurora. The next day, the truth will be known. Facing him, she would have her answers now.
