"I see you finally introduced Amy." The voice behind the door remarked.
"Yes, I did it before anything could offset us. It's better for the truth to come out from us than from other people." Arthur reasoned out.
"I approve of it. I thought it was a bit so early, but I guess it's better since we don't know what Esther had already revealed to the enemy."
"That was one of the reasons why. If my aunt's call earlier was any indication, she was furious that she was not informed of the move at all. I was able to take her by a big surprise this time." There was a touch of pride in Arthur's voice this time.
"Speaking of our enemy, doesn't it seem suspicious that he is being so quiet this time?" Arthur's secret adviser intoned.
Arthur pursed his lips before he answered. "Yes. I take it that he was probably planning his next steps. Amy's public introduction must have been a blow to him."
There was a grave silence behind the door. Then the man spoke. "I wouldn't be so sure of that, Arthur. If I were you, I'd be doubly careful. I have a bad feeling about this."
"I'll stay on the lookout. I promise.," Arthur assured.

"Dude, put me down! I can walk, you know?" Amy screamed into Jensen's ear as he was carrying her inside the doorway.
"No. You're in a very delicate condition." The tall guy was resolute and Amy was not able to do anything but to wait until he finally deposited her in the couch. Her cat, Beerus, followed her and jumped up to her knee right away.
"Well, it's not like I can't do anything.," Amy answered in a small voice as she lowered her eyes. She could not hide her embarrassment, which Jensen probably detected as he fell silent. He chuckled briefly after that while shaking his head.
"I thought I was so lucky, but it seemed like someone already wisely did his best to keep you forever. May I ask who the lucky guy is?"
"T-there was no guy." Amy bit her lower lip as her hands began shaking. "This was just a mistake."
Jensen creased his forehead in confusion. "What do you mean? What's wrong, Amy?"
"I was so stupid… I-I got drunk accidentally, and now, my brother's going to kill me!" Amy was not able to stop blurting out as tears came out of her eyes. Later on, she would blame this uncharacteristic meltdown to her hormones going haywire.
"Amy, I know I'm not in any position to do this, but please, tell me what happened." Jensen grabbed the hands she was wringing and held them in his own.
Amy did not know what she saw in Jensen's eyes that time, but she found herself telling him exactly what happened during that fateful night of the company outing.

Chris was whistling as he got inside his apartment. He felt good that he accomplished something this day: get Ms. Amy's home address, or at least, he hoped that it was the real one. Considering that they discovered today that Ms. Amy was a rich Ledesma heiress, the address that Onyx Publishing had of her previously was located in a less affluent neighborhood, and not in a typical highly-exclusive ones the rich live in, and was probably false. He had to suffer the unwanted attentions of the middle-aged woman from the HR department for a little bit first before he could obtain the information.
After Vance's call that morning, he set on right away to persuade anyone from the HR department to give him Ms. Amy's home address. It was not because he wanted to befriend her after learning that she was rich, but rather, he knew he couldn't live in peace with himself with his conscience gnawing on him because he was not able to apologize. He should not have waited this long to do this, to be honest.
There was no doubt that Ms. Amy was the person who sent Vance's application to their realty company. That was another reason for Chris to apologize. After the hurtful accusations he told their former HR Head, she still thought about Vance's wellbeing when she had no absolute responsibility to do so. Chris just realized how, despite Ms. Amy's cold façade, there was something noble and righteous within her. He would be damned if he didn't get the chance to say sorry at least.
Chris thought that only Vance and he knew about Ms. Amy's real identity, but by lunch, everyone was informed. The breaking news was all over social media and it spread over like wildfire in their building. Everyone had their own speculations regarding Ms. Amy's decision to work in their company, her hiding of her true identity, and even the nature of her relationship with another rich heir, Trevor Schwarz. Some were saying they probably were arranged, or that they were even childhood friends.
What Chris found most funny was the claim of some that they totally knew Ms. Amy's real status before. They said they already suspected it before, since Ms. Amy was obviously full of grace and elegance, topped off by her snobbish coldness. Of course, she was a rich heiress. Nevermind the fact that these same people were the ones who used to call the former HR Head as a "miserable, lonely, cat lady."
Chris would not deny that he used to chuckle before when he heard these labels, but he also never joined in the name calling. He mostly just tolerated Vance's humorous rants against Ms. Amy. This time though, he could not even bring himself to think about her as a lonely virgin, not when he was having these disturbing dreams about the night he spent with her, often resulting to leaving him with blue balls…
Most importantly, he was not the type of person who could sleep peacefully at night knowing that he had hurt someone so badly. So he had made his decision: he would go to Ms. Amy's home address to personally apologize for his behavior the last time they met. He just hoped that she would forgive him.

"I thought I would be safe, but it seemed like the morning after pill I took was a product of Acme, you know, the one Wile E. Coyote always used? It failed, obviously." Amy joked sardonically.
She had just finished telling Jensen about the night of the company outing. She had thankfully calmed down from the brief panic attack a while ago. Jensen's comforting voice had given her the will to tell him her story despite the embarrassment she felt.
Jensen chuckled at her quip, but he replied curiously. "May I ask when you took the pill?"
Amy pursed her lips as she tried to remember the details from that day. "Uhmm… about eight hours after the… you know…" She looked at his eyes as she explained. "I was sidetracked when I helped a stranded man in the highway and then when I drove, I guess it kinda slipped off my mind for a bit. When I remembered to buy the pill, it was already a few hours later."
"I see." Amy's kindhearted neighbor nodded. "You see, Amy, I think some morning after pills don't work anymore if taken that late."
"I-is that so? I didn't know." Amy looked away as her cheeks blushed in shame. "I was virgin so I didn't know the exact mechanics. I just remembered reading that pills could be effective even after three days, so I tried out my luck… which didn't work."
"Yeah… that kind of things happen." Jensen told her in a comforting voice. "So what's your plan now?"
Amy shook her head in dejection. "I… I really don't know. I just got introduced to the public and I'm afraid the news of something like this could be a scandal to my family."
"Hey, it's okay." The man rubbed her shoulder. "Are you—Are you keeping the baby?"
"Of course. I don't know how I would tell my brother about this, but I want this baby." Amy smiled softly at the thought that came to her. "I think I like having someone to care for, in addition to Beerus."
"Well, I hope that while you are thinking about your next plans, you will let me help you."
Amy was astounded by the kindness Jensen was showing her. Some part of her couldn't believe that people like him still existed. So she sent him a rare soft smile and said, "Thank you. I hope you would help me keep this a secret for now too."
"No problem at all, Amy. No problem at all."

Amy was finally settled in her bed, tucking in early as she was quite exhausted from her whole day of activities, on top of surprises. Beerus was already asleep on her stomach. Now that she thought about it, it seemed like her cat noticed her pregnancy even before she did as she remembered how he suddenly became more affectionate to her these past few days.
She was thinking about the wonder of it all when her phone rang. She got up to get her phone from the bedside table and saw Trevor's name. Knowing that he would want to talk again, she answered him.
"Hello, Trevor." She could not hide the tiredness on her voice.
"Good evening, milady." There was a hint of teasing on Trevor's voice on the other line. "How was your big day?"
Amy sighed. "Well, it was tiring… speaking of which, I just really wanna sleep tonight."
"I see.," Trevor answered on the other line. "I'll let you have your sleep. Just promise me one thing."
"What is it?" Amy asked as she resisted the temptation to fall asleep.
"Help me out with the grumpy lady I adopted two days ago. I'm a bit wary of approaching her.," Trevor said matter-of-factly.
"Alright." She just agreed, even though she didn't fully understand it. Anything for him to finally let her sleep.
"Good. Don't forget it." Trevor finally put down the line and Amy plopped down on the pillow right away.
For now, she'd sleep off all her troubles and dream of cats and babies. Hopefully, tomorrow would present an answer to her worries.
