Natalie showed Sabrina all over the village. They checked out some shops, Sabrina met members of the pack, and they were thoroughly enjoying themselves. Natalie was quick to make Sabrina feel welcomed and at ease. As was every pack member they met. They decided to take a break at a coffee shop. Natalie stopped short when they got inside.
“Ummm, maybe we should go to the café down the road. They have a really good deli.”, Natalie said in a low voice.
“Why?”, Sabrina asked. Before Natalie could answer, a shrill voice answered.
“Who said you could come in here Omega?”, the girl snapped. Natalie was trying to meet her eyes but the girl was clearly a higher level than Natalie was. She wasn’t higher than Sabrina though.
“I did. Who are you?”, Sabrina answered.
She crossed her arms in front of her, put most of her weight on her left hip, c*****g her right hip out, and tilted her head to the right side. The girl before her had dirty blonde hair that was dire need of a trim, a fake spray tan that was three shades too dark for her, and so much make-up, she looked like a bad clown cake.
The she-wolf looked Sabrina up and down then sneered, “My name is Brittany and I am the best friend to the Luna of this pack and it’s future Beta female. Who the hell are you? How did you get onto Rogue Moon land? You aren’t from this pack. Strays aren’t allowed here.” Sabrina blinked a few times.
“You mean that your best friend is Crystal?”, Sabrina asked just to confirm.
“That’s right. Now tell me who you are and why you are on our pack lands.”, Brittany demanded. The left edge of Sabrina’s mouth went up into a sly smile.
“Of course! How rude of me. I am Sabrina Duvall, formally of the Sage Moon pack, future Luna of the Rogue Moon pack and mate to Alpha Emrys Lyall.”
“Liar!”, Brittany screeched. Sabrina was no longer in the mood to play games. She lost her smile and made sure to lock eyes with Brittany. Brittany’s mud brown eyes widen as Sabrina let a little of her Alpha aura go.
“Are you accusing your Luna of lying? Crystal is no longer in charge around here. I am. I will not tolerate disrespect towards myself or anyone else in this pack. You will keep your mouth closed if you have nothing nice to say, to ANYONE. Tonight, is the acceptance ceremony. You and Crystal will sit in the front row and watch as Emrys makes me his Luna. Then tomorrow you will both sit in your rooms while I hear from every member of this pack about the reign of terror, I have no doubt you both inflicted. After that, I will decide what to do with you both. Do not think for a minute that either of you will be protected from me. Now get out of my sight!”, Sabrina commanded. Brittany let out a whine, a yip, then ran out of the coffee shop. Sabrina looked around at the wolves staring at her.
“Does anyone else want to challenge me? Or would you like to start thinking about what needs to be fixed in this pack? What changes you would like to see? I was serious. Tomorrow I will listen to anyone that has a complaint, no matter what the topic. I am here for you. I am here to help you if you need help, to listen to you no matter the subject and no matter how long it takes. I am your Luna and I will work for you. Things are going to change but I can’t do it without your help.”, she said in a loud voice. All of the wolves bowed their heads to her. Natalie stepped up.
“Luna, the Alpha is looking for you. We need to get back to the pack house.” Sabrina sighed and let Natalie lead her out of the coffee shop.
Emrys was fast developing a headache. Rhett’s condition had not improved and in the short time he was gone, it seemed as though chaos had reigned on his pack. Word had spread quickly about the new Luna, and Crystal’s ousting. Lincoln and Tony were updating him on the border patrols reports, and it seemed like every five minutes there was another pack member with a new complaint against Crystal. He had no idea things were so bad. His pack was terrified of what was going to happen now, but they were more scared that this unknown Luna was going to be just like Crystal or worse. Emrys decided to send a mind link to Natalie asking her to bring Sabrina to him so he could tell her what was expected of her. He couldn’t deal with the complaining. He was about to interrupt Lincoln telling him about yet another problem when the scent of cinnamon and vanilla hit him. He immediately calmed down. He could hear Sabrina’s soft voice just outside of his office door. His eyes were glued to the door and he tuned out the world. After a moment, she walked in. Emrys suddenly felt like he had been holding his breath and could suddenly breathe. Sabrina gave him a small smile and walked straight over to him.
“Lincoln I am sorry to interrupt but you don’t have to keep going. I have already informed the pack members waiting outside that I will speak to them all about the issues they have tomorrow. I have also spoken to a few pack members at the coffee shop and asked them to spread the word. I will make another announcement tonight at the ceremony.”, Sabrina said coolly.
“You did?”, Emrys asked in surprise. “Yes. Taking the complaints of the pack are not for the Alpha to handle. I have also met Brittany.” Lincoln and Emrys groaned.
“I forgot to warn you about her. Being that she is Crystal’s best friend, she was after Lincoln like Crystal was after me, but with better results on Lincoln’s end.” Emrys informed her.
“Is that why she introduced herself as the best of the Luna and the future Beta female?”, Sabrina said, the left corner of her mouth tugged up as she was fighting a smile.
“Luna, I swear on Diana that delusional she-wolf is NOT the future Beta female of this pack. My mate is somewhere here in the pack. I catch her scent for a bit but I can’t never find her. It’s been like that for a while now.”, Lincoln cringed.
“You haven’t looked for her? Seriously looked for her?”, Sabrina asked.
“I did when I first caught her scent. The problem is that she is an Omega and is always in a group of them that are rushing around. I’ll catch her scent in one room and by the time I follow it around the pack house, I lose her over by the laundry. I’ve narrowed her down to one of the Omegas on the cleaning staff, but they work so well and efficiently that no one knows who is on the cleaning staff. You never see them.”, Lincoln explained. Sabrina wondered if Lincoln would pounce on Natalie to find his mate. She decided to wait before telling him that one of the cleaning staff was outside the office door right now.
“Emrys, is it alright if I borrow Natalie from her duties for a bit? Just while I get to know the pack?”, Sabrina asked him. Emrys thought about it for a moment.
“You are the Luna of this pack. Do what you wish with the Omegas. They seem to have the most complaints.”, he shrugged. Sabrina beamed at him and he forgot what they were talking about.
“Then I will leave you to finish your work and I will see you at the ceremony.”, she said. Sabrina turned to walk to the door. When she got there, she paused for a moment, turning back to Emrys.
“Oh, Emrys, I hope you won’t mind but I invited my brother and father to come for the ceremony.”, she said before shutting the door. It took a full minute for her statement to hit him.
“SHE DID WHAT?!?!”, he roared.
