The rest of the ride to Emrys’ land was pleasant. Emrys and Sabrina spoke conversationally, getting to know each other. They could start to feel the mate bond getting stronger. They were careful to avoid any truly deep conversations, especially after the one they just had. Sabrina knew the moment when they crossed the border. Emrys seemed to relax a bit more and he was breathing a little easier.
“You really don’t like being away from home, do you?” she asked.
“It’s not that I don’t like being away. I don’t trust other packs. The last time I was away, my mother, father, and sister were killed in a rogue attack. Rhett and I were out for a weekend camping, getting to know the areas outside of pack territory.” He explained.
“I’m sorry. I can’t begin to imagine what that was like. It is hard enough with my mother being in a coma, I can’t even think about losing my brother or my father.” Sabrina said sadly.
“Speaking of your brother, I have heard that some twins have a special connection that is almost magical. Is that true?” Emrys asked. He kept his tone curious, so that she wouldn’t know that he was really asking just how much her brother would know about his pack. Before she could answer him, the car came to a stop.
“It’s time to meet your new pack and see your new home.” Emrys said. He got out and held his hand out to help her out of the car.
Show time. Sabrina thought to herself. She took Emrys’ hand and closed her eyes against the sparks that shot up her arm. Her heart and brain may not want him, but her body did. They turned towards the house and Sabrina got her first look at her new home. It was a mansion in size. There were what looked to be 5 floors, and a thousand windows. She loved that it appeared to be an extended version of a Tudor manor house. Emrys brought her attention back to him when he squeezed her hand. She looked at him and was shocked to see that he looked upset. She looked forward, this time to where his pack was supposed to be, only to see one man standing there.
“What the hell is this Tony? Where is the pack? I know I gave specific instructions that they were supposed to be here to greet their Luna.” Emrys growled.
“Apologies Alpha and Luna. I did tell the pack but Crystal told them to ignore me and not to worry about it. That anyone claiming to be the Luna to the Rogue Moon pack would be taken care of by you and that you would be upset if they stopped working to waste your time.” The man name Tony said hastily. He bared his neck as well, to should his submission.
“It would seem, my dear, that you were right. I will have this taken care of now.” Emrys whispered. Sabrina shook her head.
“No, I will deal with it. If I have you try to handle it, nothing will be solved. This is between me and Crystal. However, you can introduce me to the one pack member that did show up.” Sabrina said softly. Emrys looked surprised by her, but he didn’t say anything.
“Knock it off Tony. You know I’m not going to bite the messenger. Come meet your Luna.” Emrys said in mock annoyance.
“Sabrina this is my Gamma, Tony Diaz. Tony this is your Luna, Sabrina Duvall, formally of the Sage Moon pack.”
Tony’s face showed disbelief for a split second before he covered and managed to say, “It is a pleasure to meet you Luna. If you need anything you have only to ask.” His tone was respectful.
Sabrina didn’t comment on the disbelief on his face. She had seen it. She was sure that went Emrys had headed to Sage Moon, it was with the belief that her pack had done something to his brother. Then when he realized that his mate was the Alpha’s daughter, he changed tactics. Sabrina was beginning to understand Emrys and that would work to her advantage.
“It is a pleasure to meet you Tony. Thank you for the kind reception.” Sabrina said with a smile. Tony smiled back at her, making Emrys growl.
“Shall we go inside and see what’s what? I want to get settled in as soon as possible.” Sabrina suggested.
By this time Lincoln had joined them. Tony filled him in about Crystal redirecting Emrys’ orders, while the Alpha and Luna moved to walk inside. Before they made it to the door, however, it was flung open and a blonde whirlwind came flying out and into Emrys’ arms. Sabrina had to let go of his hand, so that he could maintain his balance.
“Emrys darling! I know it was only a few hours, but I have missed you. Did you get any answers from those mangy mutts?” The blonde asked before planting a kiss on his lips.
Emrys was so revolted by her kiss that he flung her off of him, instead of just setting her aside. The blonde looked hurt by his actions.
“Honey what is the problem? Why are you tossing me away? Didn’t you miss me?” She said as she started to approach him again.
This time it was Sabrina’s turn to growl. The blonde stopped and looked at her. She looked surprised at first, then turned to Emrys, dismissing Sabrina as though she was nothing.
“Emrys who is the stray?” she pouted. Sabrina walked back to Emrys’ side. She was still growling low, as Emrys now smelled of cheap perfume.
“Crystal, this is your Luna. Sabrina Duvall.” Emrys pulled Sabrina into his side.
“Sabrina, my love, this is Crystal.”
