In Another Life

*Nadia's POV * I walk into math class and sit next to Cat. We have most of our classes together. She always gets here first and she always saves me a seat. Between the two of us, she's the better student. And a kickass warrior. But I guess that's what happens when your dad's a Beta and so is your mom. "Oh look who finally showed up," Cat says with a grin. "Yeah, yeah. Don't get your panties in a twist," I grumble. As if being in math isn't bad enough, Stephanie and her minions are in this class too. Cat is my only ally and her being the best student while I am not, only brings more unwanted attention my way. She has Beta parents while my mom is just an Omega. And I don't even know my dad. I've always wondered what he was like. And why he didn't want me. Well, us, I suppose. My mom never talks about him. She works at the pack house although we don't live there. It's easier to not ask my mom too many questions. She's always so sad. I didn't realize how lost in thought I was until I hear Stephanie's irritating voice, "my dad, you know, the Alpha, wants to see you in the principal's office. Now!! Hurry along mutt!" She screams. I wonder how awful I must've been in a past life to deserve everything I've endured, even now. I make my way out of class, towards the office. I hear yelling, "I don't care who her father is! I'm the Alpha of this pack and there are consequences for messing with my daughter!" That was definitely Alpha Eric. He is the most ruthless Alpha in these parts. The Dark Moon pack has quite the reputation for being merciless and ruthless, much like it's Alpha. "Well because of who her father is, you can do nothing," I hear, Sam say. Wait, Sam? Does he know who my father is? Maybe he's not talking about me. Alpha Eric storms out. "Nadia," he grits out. "Yes Alpha," I answer. "You have extra training this week! See you after school!" He storms off without any explanation. I never go to training. I mean, not with the Alpha. Or our pack. My mom trains me mostly. And Cat and her parents. Omegas aren't allowed to train in this pack. And my mom refuses to leave me defenseless. "Earth to Nadia," Sam chuckles. "Oh, sorry," I murmur. "Wait, why are you here?" "Oh, didn't I tell you?" Sam c***s his head to the side. "I'm your new training partner!"
