The next few days were… difficult, to say the least. Ella wasn’t talking, not to me or anyone, and her relationship with her cousin appeared strained at best. As far as I know, despite the promise that they would talk about it the following day, nothing of the sort had happened. Apparently, Xaero still felt upset over whatever had happened at the cemetery. Ella would not say exactly, but I knew it was bad. Safiya told me as much that if Caeldon had not snatched Ella away from whatever it was she was doing to her parents’ bodies, she would have burned from the inside out into ashes.
