Lunch was a boisterous affair the next day, even if Xaero and I joined the rest of the Locke Family in the home tended by Ebenezer. The siblings obviously did not have many family luncheons due to the fact that it was complete mayhem even if they did technically live in the same area. Safiya seemed to be in a perpetual state of blush at her brothers’ consistent measuring of my cousin, of his plans, of the wedding, and of the babe that they announced she was carrying.
I was surprised they waited this long to tell them, but one look at Xaero told me it was more like ripping off a band-aid: it was easier to do it all at once rather than slowly.
