Khai's pov:
It's been 8 hours since I met my mate. She's as beautiful and intense as I imagined her to be. If not more. Helena... she said her name was. It's been dancing around my mind ever since. She has the face of an angel but more strength and courage in one finger than any warrior I've ever known. She's perfect. Perfect for me. If only she wasn't so guarded then maybe she wouldn't push me away and could just be open to the thought of me ...the thought of us. I've waited on her my whole life and to her, it's almost as if she was blindsided. Like love was the last thing on her mind and here I come to ruin it. I could see it in her, she was looking for a way out of this and as long as I've waited to meet her I will do just about anything in my power to get her to stay. I had to get her alone just so we can talk so I brought her to our den. I figured with fewer distractions from our packs maybe both of us can have a private moment to ourselves without the pressure of watchful eyes. But the moment I brought her home the first thing she asked was if she could be alone! Could you believe it?! my own mate didn't even want me around her. It hurt honestly, it did but the worse part is I didn't fight her on it. I just nodded my head and accepted her request. Figured it was more important to make her comfortable than it was to argue about my own comfort. Soon after nodding my head, Helena took off and hurriedly ran up the stairs to our bedroom shutting the door behind her. I stayed downstairs in the kitchen area just to give her space as I paced back and forth fighting back the urge to kick down the door and run to her. My Lycan just wanted to hold her. His constant whining was driving me mad. I could hear her up there walking around and I could tell she was struggling with something deep inside of her as her worried emotion seeped through the mate bond. Whatever it was I wanted to help her through it. Whatever I can do to just get her to trust me ill do it. I sat down for a minute just to rest my legs which were burning with exhaustion. At some point, I must have fallen asleep because I woke up to the sound of loud banging at the front door.
(BANG! BANG! BANG!)
I got up to answer the door and as I walked over slowly I perked my ears up so my earlobes don't interfere with my wolf hearing. It's sort of like audio reception, listened out for any sound of my mate walking around up there but I heard nothing but silence. I'm not sure what worries me more the fact that she wants to be alone or the fact that I don't know if she's alright up there. But it was driving my Lycan insane. I opened the door to my Gamma Riot and beta Miko standing there before me. The worried look on Riot's face told me whatever they wanted to say wasn't going to be good.
"This better be important!!" I warned as I sternly looked both my men in the eye.
"Wouldnt be here if it wasn't" Miko swore.
"Personally, you know I'd handle it my way but being that it's your mate and her pack members I figured I should run it by you first before any slaughtering or removal of heads." Riot told me as he inspected his claws closely like as if something was stuck underneath them.
Miko was loyal to no end but he has a good heart, Riot was loyal too but Riot was a wild card. He was the only one in my pack I could trust to kill me if it needed to be done. If I was ever badly wounded he'd put me out of my misery quickly and that's what I wanted. A warrior's death. Miko would never give me that, He would search far and wide to the ends of the earth for any cure possible. Mikos is a true friend like a brother to me but he doesn't hold the guts to do what it takes when it comes to me.
"Yeah, After! I had to literally pull you away and hold you back from getting your ass kicked by a girl!" Miko added.
"Alright fill me in," I told them as I opened the door wider stepping back and allowing them in.
Miko walked in first and took a seat at the kitchen table followed by Riot as he too pulled out a chair and sat down. I closed the door and headed over to join them when I locked onto her scent as she crept from the room to the top of the stairs quietly.
"That b***h started it!!" Riot shouted out at Miko.
"Started what!?... One of you better fill me in! NOW!" I yelled over them using my alpha tone.
"From what I heard ...one of the she-wolves from your mate's pack came over to Riot's little sister and called her a coward and then she attempted to morph out on her but then Riot morphed out to protect her and the two of them started to fight she was going for the throat when I morphed out into my Lycan so I can get in the middle of them but I stopped when I saw the huge pudgy one running toward them and then he morphed out into this large wolf and knocked them both backward sending them flying into opposite sides of the grass. He morphed back quickly before either of them got back up and called enough and the fight was over, the she-wolf morphed back and retreated. But Riot over here has his panties in a bunch and can't get over it." Miko explained.
"How did this start?" I asked Riot.
Riot shrugged his shoulders looking over at Miko who shrugged at me too. Something seemed off here. No one attacks unprovoked.
I was trying to focus on the situation at hand but my mate's aroma was like a vixen dancing through my nostrils sending my Lycan dopamine. Before I knew it my mate was standing at the bottom of the stairs looking at us, I hadn't even noticed her come down and I sure as hell didn't hear her either.
"What she-wolf?" Helena asked grabbing everyone's attention.
"She was one of yours, some tiny chic though..." Riot started as Helena cut him off.
"I see... and did anyone get hurt?" Mate asked him.
"No. no, I mean nothing but a few scrapes and a bruised ego" Miko joked as he normally did when nervous.
Mate used her alpha tone and even I was a bit intimidated, but it turned me on more. I could tell she knew it too because she refused to make eye contact with me the entire time.
Helena came closer into the kitchen passing me by as she walked over to where Riot was sitting and placed her hand on the small gash he had on his neck from being thrown backward the wound was dripping small drops of blood. I watched as she covered the gash with the length of her hand and closed her eyes. It was when I saw Riot's eyes roll back in his head that I knew what my mate was trying to do. She was having a vision of some sort but I have never seen anyone who had the gift of sight ever be able to summon it whenever they wanted. Helena was proving to be more and more incredible after each moment spent around her. I can see why the moon goddess made her just for me...Helena was one of a kind. Suddenly she let go I heard Riot let out a deep breath and then grasp for air as if his lungs couldn't get enough. His eyes were open the widest I've ever seen them as he frantically looked around the room then at Helena Miko and me. It took him a second to get himself together as we all remained silent out of mostly shock really. Miko spoke first breaking the silence in the room.
"My goddess... Khai! She's healed him! Look at his neck! look!" Miko shouted excitedly.
He was right, I looked at his neck and the wound had vanished. It hadn't even left a scar in its place.
"Amazing" The words escaped my lips before I could stop them. I looked over to Helena.
"I'm so sorry Luna, I had no idea" Riot blurted out shocking both Miko and myself, as long as I've known that Lycan he's never once apologized for anything.
"I know, it's okay," Helena reassured him as she pats him on the back, turned around walked out of the front door, and left our den.
"Um, What the hell just happened here!?" I demanded answers.
"She showed me what happened before, you know before the fight and confrontation began... well apparently my youngest sister has finally met her mate, and instead of accepting him she took one good whiff of him and called him an experiment. Gwen decided to reject him because she was afraid of what he was. And I was confused too as Helena made me smell what Gwen did and his scent is different but they all smell different Khai, your mate is incredible... she showed me how she made them human!... all of them!" Riot told us.
"Made them human??" Miko asked.
"What do you mean she made them human? How does someone make a human?" I asked him.
"Khai I don't know how to explain it! she just did! Khai, Your mate is unlike anyone or anything we have ever seen!! Those people were wolves before she met them... Like actual wolves... in the wild, you know (Aroooouuwl)" He howled trying to further explain.
"No way," said Miko.
"Yo I'm telling you I saw it with my own eyes it was like I was there, It all felt so real!" Riot swore.
"Woah, how is that even possible?" Miko turned to me.
"Honestly Miko, I have no idea but I know one thing... since she's been here this is the strongest I've ever felt. I have to talk to her but she seems so far away from here mentally like she isn't even interested in getting to know me." I confessed.
"You can't lose her Khai. She may be just what this pack needs especially with healing abilities like that and goddess knows what else she is capable of. we need her! " Miko said.
Miko and Riot lead the way as we exited the den and made our way down to the ground level where Helena's pack was camped out. Soon as we got down there my mate was easy to spot as she stood in the middle of the pack mates as they huddled around her. They were having a discussion in their mind link I'm guessing my mate didn't want us to hear it.
When they were done everyone dispersed leaving my mate alone. I took my chance now that I had it just to get her to talk to me.
"Hello beautiful" I greeted her.
Helena flashed me a small smile and tried to walk away before I stopped her grabbing onto her arm as I spun her around to face me.
She looked everywhere else but my eyes like there were something in them she didn't want to see.
"She's trying her hardest to fight her love for us, you cannot let her!" my Lycan spoke as his voice echoed in my mind.
"Will you just look at me!" I snapped.
"WHY!?" Helena shouted back at me.
"B!...because I'm your mate, not the plague!" I tried to whisper as others were now watching us.
"Look I don't have time for this!" Helena insisted as she snatched her arm away and stormed off leaving me standing there alone and confused.
One of her pack mates walked over to me and tossed an arm over my shoulder.
"Give her time bro, Just give her time... she will come around. Helena's been through a lot she doesn't trust easily" He said.
"Aww hang in there, I'll talk to her," The small she-wolf said as she walked over.
"I'm Khai, Sorry I haven't had the time to formally introduce myself," I said reaching out for a handshake.
"Onyx, and that's Spirit," said the guy as he pointed to the tiny she-wolf standing to my right.
"Nice to meet you both," I said.
"Alright alpha I'm gonna go put that word in for ya," Spirit said as she walked off.
"Nice meeting you too Khai," said onyx as he walked off joining his packmates around the fire.
I stood there in solitude as I pondered what to do and how I could make Helena want to love me. I can't lose her. I've never felt so whole in my life and I know that it's only due to her being near me. I could only imagine what she could make of me. but in the end, all I could figure is that if I left her alone maybe she will come to me. I had to find something anything to get her off my mind. So I took a walk. Alone.
