Chapter 59
The night of Kate's labor
Harold entered the operating room dressed as a doctor and wearing a surgical mask. Inside the OR, two female nurses are tending to Kate's body. They cleaned it and covered it.
Harold immediately hid behind the curtains as the two nurses left.
After ensuring the two were gone, Harold slowly opened the curtain covering Sophia's bed.
He looked at her, peacefully sleeping. "I'm sorry, baby Sophia. I failed you." Tears began to fall from his eyes. He looked up to somehow stop them from dripping. He took a deep breath and then looked again at the woman he had promised to protect. "I failed you. Rosemarie, I'm sorry." He added while caressing Kate's face.
Harold heard a gasp from Kate. Harold stared at her face, thinking he was just hallucinating.
