The satisfaction of seeing what her mother’s elder sister, twin sister and looked like through the photograph. It still bother and hurts her why her grandmother hid them from her mother even till she died. She has not find answers yet to all these. I decided to take her out to a café for a tea night and eat something. We were seated and after our dinner, we were sipping our tea , an idea came to me. I excused myself which I quickly prepared a little surprise . When everything was ready, I texted her “Sophia could you come outside,I’ve got something special to show you”. While I tuned the stings of my guitar, my fingers trembled because of how chilled the night at Oakland was , I felt a stiff in my knuckles but I continued. I was determined to do this for Sophia, I won’t allow the cold ruin playing the song I have been working on for weeks. This song is a way of pouring my heart to her. The square was busy with Christmas celebrations , the lampposts were wrapped with twinkling lights. The air was filled with the scent of roasted chestnuts. There in the center was huge Christmas tree glittering like something out of postcard, the snowflakes gave it a magical sight. Echoes of My Heart was not just a song, it was my heart poured to music, my confession. I took a deep breath , I began to play as I placed my fingers on the first chord. My voice rose, soft and steady, weaving through the bustle of Jack London Square. I observed the conversation of people starts to fade and slowly began to turn to listen to my music There she was stepping out of the café, her golden hair was caught in the warm glow of lights. She was wearing a cream coat and a crimson scarf. She is so beautiful, my chest tightened as I looked at her effortless beauty. Her cheek flushed from the cold as she searched for me. She gave out that soft smile that makes me feel like that only person in the world as our eyes met. Watching her walking towards me and for a moment I forgot the crowd , the cold , she was the only person in my head at the moment. Just as I was about to hit the chorus, I noticed a movement in the crowd. I was surprised, my fingers faltering for half a second. “Could this be Marcus and Lena?” I said to myself. Marcus familiar voice echoed “Elijah “, he tapped me on the shoulder. It came like a big surprise to me never thought i would see someone familiar in Oakland. “Marcus, what are you doing here?” I asked He was so excited seeing me “Where have you been man” everyone has been trying to reach you. He said. He then told me that my song blown up “ Just Lost in the moment “ . My song hit to the top chart. My heart stopped for a second. “What?” Lena chimed in, why not check your phone as she held hers up as proof. I saw my name sitting on the chart as I quickly confirmed with my own phone. I noticed notifications flooding my screen, My manager, label and artists I haven’t talked to for years sent me messages . I was super excited. Sophia came up to me showing concern as her bros knit “Elijah, is everything okay?” I immediately held her hand, I was overwhelmed filled with emotion. “ My song top up the charts “ I said unbelievably . A spark of joy lightening her eyes as it widened. Her smile lightened up the scene as the Christmas light around us. “This is super incredible “. She said Marcus tapped on my shoulder and said “The world’s waiting for you, man. Time to celebrate!” I wasn’t ready yet , I gave out my number to them and promised to hang out with them, I turned to Sophia and gave a her a kiss. “Come with me,” I said, taking her hand. She was the only person I wanted to be with be with at this point. We went to the edge of waterfront where there is less noisy. The city light casts reflection on the water as it shimmer, the stars were brighter as the snowflakes continued to fall. I turned to Sophia and told her right from the day I met her, I already knew my soul wants to be her. My hearts continued to pound and I let her know , every words in Echoes of my heart was all about her. I also told her how complete I would be having her by myself and this whole surprise is my own little way to ask her be my girlfriend. She then added that has agreed to be the love of my life I couldn’t held back the desire, I leaned in as my lips found hers . She held my cheek and kissed back. Looking back at her , she was all glowed up with her smile brighter than the stars. “Say you’ll let me love you,” I said, my own voice unsteady. “The way I’ve always wanted to.” She laughed softly, her fingers brushing against mine. “You already do.” Then she demanded that she wanted to listen to the rest of the music I wrote about her . I played the song Echoes of my heart but with Sophia by my side this time around . The sound flowed effortlessly with lots of emotions I’ve bottled up , it was all poured in the music. For the first time everything felt perfect as the stars twinkles, snowflakes danced around us. I had all the love and the magic of Christmas. I glanced at Sophia as I sang , I already made up my mind that whatever comes next in my life, this is the person I want by my side as life partner. She completes me. The night feels so alive as we left the café. The chilled air brushing our faces. The day has been long and a lot of emotions . I’m so glad that Sophia was able to see the face of her family she had be longing to see. “Let’s grab something special “ she suggested She grinned as she slid her hands into mine “Champagne? Spirit?” Let’s make an unforgettable night. “That’s sounds perfect “ i said . We found a liquor store and got some champagne, I added a bottle of whiskey for myself and her favorite vodka in a cart. The cashier was all friendly as we are about to checked out. He cold sense the mood between Sophia and I. When we got to the room , it was warm and private, I popped the champagne. We both laughed as the cork shot across the room, holding our glasses we made a toast. “To a day full of discoveries,” she said, her voice carrying a mix of gratitude and joy. “To us,” I added, clinking my glass against hers. We sat on the bed discussing our day and the high and lows we went through with our emotions. I listened as I sip my drink, I observed the lightness of the drink. I decided to switch to whiskey to help me get the cold out of my body. She whispered into my ears “ Thanks you for today, it means everything to me”. I kissed her to let her know how happy I am to be around her, the taste of champagne masked her lips. It was all intoxicating, my heart was beating fast and I felt how fast hers was. The heat between us flared, I couldn’t hold my emotions any longer. I quickly carried her to the bed, the empty champagne bottle rolled as we fell on the sheets, lost in each other. The night was magical, very touch results to something deep. Her whisper sent shivers to my spine. “ Elijah”’ she called my name once more. Our connections were more intimate than before as we moved together. The connections were raw, emotional and utterly consuming. The room was filled with gasp as I grip and studied every part of her body, it feels like eternity, I can’t get enough of Sophia. We tangled in the sheets while pressing our bodies to each other to catch some breath. Sophia was resting on my chest and was tracing patterns on my skin. “That was…” she began, her voice trailing off as she searched for the right words. I smiled, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “Perfect?” The weight of the day vanished and was replaced with laughter and peace. I kissed her forehead passionately. “Thank you for being you,” she whispered, her voice barely audible but full of meaning. I tightened my arms around her, my heart swelling. “You make it easy.” We cuddled up ourselves till we slept off
