NORA FELT FROZEN INSIDE. The cruise over the lake didn’t calm her, as it had happened before. When Matt transferred everything into his car, she just waited aside, her thoughts churning in her head.
Everyone came to say their good-byes, but she seemed aloof, and they didn’t linger.
Matt helped Nora in the car after he secured Nat in the child’s chair in the back. He leaned over her and locked her seatbelt when he noticed that she only stared through the windshield.
Suddenly, Nora turned her eyes to him and said, “I want to go home.”
