Episode 3: “Love on Rent”

400 Words
Lia glanced at Ethan sitting on the couch and slowly walked over. She hesitated before sitting beside him, leaving a small space between them. After a moment, her fingers lightly brushed against his hand. Ethan looked down at their hands, then back at her, his expression calm. “You have me for one week,” he said quietly. “We can watch movies, go out, have dinner—whatever you want. But we keep things within the boundaries you agreed to when you booked me.” Lia quickly pulled her hand back, cheeks turning pink. “Oh. Right,” she murmured. “Movies sound good.”Ethan said....but if it gets physical, that costs extra. I’m… not cheap.” His words were cold, professional. But Lia wasn’t even listening. She was lost in his eyes, nodding dreamily. “Yes,” she whispered. She did everything to please him. Cooked his favorite meals, laughed at all his jokes, and watched the way he moved like he wasn’t even real. Every smile felt like a gift. Every glance felt like a spark. One night, while Tipsy rushed out with a quick, “My boyfriend’s calling, I’m gone, don’t wait up!” — it was just Lia and Ethan, alone in the apartment. The silence was electric. Ethan smirked, tossing out a casual pickup line, and Lia’s cheeks burned. He was only doing his job, but she couldn’t stop her heart from racing. Finally, she couldn’t hold back. She leaned in, kissed him… and he didn’t stop her. After all, he’d already warned her — if she wanted that, it was part of the deal. The night blurred into something she thought was love. For her, it wasn’t business, it was everything. Morning came. She slipped into the kitchen, humming softly, cooking breakfast like a wife. When Ethan walked in, she kissed him sweetly on the cheek. “Good morning, love. I love you, Ethan.” He sat down, cool as ever, and said flatly, “You’ll need to pay extra for last night. And if you want more… I can give you that too.” Her smile faltered for the first time. For Ethan, it was work. For Lia, it was love. And yet, she clung to his every word, convincing herself his smile meant something real. Lia is blinded by her feelings. Ethan is treating her like a client. —.
