The restaurant buzzed quietly around us, the clinking of glasses and muffled laughter almost fading into the background compared to the constant buzz of Alexander's phone resting on the table between us.
I pushed a bite of the meticulously plated dish to my lips, glancing up to find Alexander scrolling through messages, his emerald green eyes flickering with what seemed like barely contained irritation.
