Calm Me Mate

Chapter 5

***Danarius' POV***

I bolt out the back door, feeling sparks starting at my neck and going all the way down to the tip of my tail from my mate. I run on the dirt path thru the trees. I am careful of the trees tho because I don't want to scratch up mate's legs that are at my sides. I can feel her heart beating fast. I run a good couple of miles because I just want to put some distance between us and her parents. When I had sniffed her neck, I smelt something else. I had been curious but dismissed the feeling because mate was in danger. When her father had bowed his head to me, my suspicions were confirmed. He was a wolf as well. I'm sure I will see him soon.

I slowed my pace down gradually and came to a stop. Then, reluctantly, I shifted my body low to the ground so mate could get off of me and that she did. She stood there frozen. I wanted her to know to not be afraid of me. I stayed close to the ground and crawled towards her. I put my snout on her shoes and looked up into her eyes. The eyes I would never grow bored of looking into. They suck me in and swallow me whole.

***Malia's POV***

As I looked into his eyes, there seemed to be a softness to them. He is calm, nothing for me to worry about. That was short lived tho coz we only stayed like that for a few moments. I heard some crunching of twigs nearby. All of a sudden he was alert and at my side. He was towering over me and looking straight ahead from where the sound had come from. He was blocking my view so I could not see anything past him. I was nervous as to what was out there, past him. I put my hand on his side coz I definitely could not reach the top of his back when he is standing so tall!

"I did not hurt her. You know that." It was my dad! Then the wolf moved slightly so I could see. I immediately ran up to my dad and hugged him!

"Are you ok?" He asked me, whispering. "Yeah, I am ok."

"Daddy just wants to.." He pauses for a couple moments, like he is trying to figure out the right words. "take a good look at this wolf. Why don't you go over there and pick some berries for us to eat?" He points to a patch of berries about 500 feet away or so. I had to squint to see them. I just nod my head.

***Danarius' POV***

I looked at my mate's father in the eyes. He will either submit like earlier or challenge me. If you look directly into an alpha's eyes for more then ten seconds, it means you are challenging him. A fight to the death. This man is smarter than he looks. After five seconds, he bows his head. Good. It would of been a pity to have to kill mate's father. I would of have to do it reluctantly. I know the death of her father would cause her much pain which in return it would cause me pain too. Just not the attachment feelings.

"After you Alpha." He whispers. I know he is whispering because he doesn't want mate to hear. Again, smart man. Also it makes me wonder how many secrets does he hold. I walk several feet with him behind me. There is a small cluster of trees in which I go behind. I shift to my human form as we would not be able to speak if I was still in my wolf form. Mind link would not work in this case coz he is not from my pack nor is he a friend. I let him know that he may approach me. I am in my naked glory but I do not care. I have no need to cover up.

"You are a wolf." I state.

"Yes I am, a rogue. Myself and my family reside here and have been for a while. We do not disturb anyone. Low profile."

"You are not all wolves."

"No. I am the only one. "

"What are the rest of your family?" He pauses for a moment. He is contemplating what he is going to tell me. It better be the truth.

"My soon to be ex-wife is a low level witch and my son follows in that suit as it appears. My daughter, Malia, appears to have some wolf traits but no wolf present."

Malia, so that is her name. Beautiful.

"What will you be doing about the current situation?" I asked.

"Malia will come with me. She will go willingly so that is not a problem. I will not be able to take my son as he will need to learn from my ex-wife. It will crush Malia but it has to be this way. She has no clue of the supernatural world. I prefer to keep it that way." He said that last sentence with a little bit of dominance that I did not appreciate.

"I will decide when she finds about our world." I growled at him to let him know I was serious and the one in charge. He bowed his head. I'm sure even he did not want to test my patience. As my last comment, "She is my mate. You will not take her out of this town.". And with that I took one glance at her off in the distance. I will see you soon. I turned and shifted into my wolf and made my way home.
