Chapter 5: The Woman On His Bed

1182 Words
Isabelle’s POV When I clocked out work that day, it was at noon. I was glad that at least I got to clock out early, getting to the garage to pick my car, it was usually silent. I shook off the uneasy feeling and headed towards my car, I heard footsteps coming towards me as I snapped my head back. Are those people back again? I then pretended like I was walking out and of course I was still hearing the footsteps, I increased my pace and the person did too, when I finally got to the nearest turn, I did and hid by the wall holding my bag firmly in my hands. Immediately the person approached, I hit the bag's iron side on the person's head with immediate urgency. The person shrilled in pain as they squatted low, clutching their head. It was until I saw the uniform the person was wearing before I knew that man was the security man I had met that night. "Oh, I'm so sorry. I thought... I really thought..." I tried to explain but my voice trailed off, and he quickly got up, dusting his clothes and saying it was fine. My head was in my chest throughout my drive home. The next day started weird as I woke up before my alarm, just staring at the ceiling, thinking about what happened last night. I dragged myself out of bed, dressed fast, and got ready for work. Mom was already in the kitchen, humming. “Morning, honey,” she said. “You look pale.” “I’m fine.” “Did you sleep?” “Some.” “Work again?” I just nodded. She started talking about how Richard and Bryan were going to some gala later that night. I pretended to listen but didn’t say anything. When Bryan came down the stairs, I froze a little. But he didn’t even look at me. He just poured coffee, said something to his father, and grabbed his keys. “Isabelle,” he said without turning. “I’ll drive you,” he added. I almost said no, but Mom looked so happy hearing that. So, I said, “Okay.” The car ride was dead silent as he kept his eyes on the road, and I kept mine on the window. When we got to the office, he just said, “Check in with Vanessa when you settle. You’ll be handling part of the event work tonight.” Then he walked off like we hadn’t shared the same house, the same kitchen, and the same awful silence. By noon, the whole floor was restless as people were rushing around, carrying boxes, and talking about that event. I was in the female's restroom when I heard some colleagues whispering; “Did you hear?” “She’s back.” “Who?” “Bryan’s ex. Tessa. The one who used to model.” “I thought she was in London.” “She’s back for him, apparently.” I tried to ignore them, but my stomach twisted. I didn’t even know why it bothered me. He was my boss, that’s all. Vanessa came by later, dressed like she was already going to a red-carpet event. “You’re dropping the presentation deck at the Hilton by six,” she said. “Don’t be late.” She handed me a sticky note with the details. “Anything else?” I asked. She smiled, it was most definitely a fake one. “Try not to embarrass the company. Or yourself.” I just said, “Okay,” and went back to my desk. At five-thirty, I took the folder and left. The hotel was busy as people were setting up tables, flowers, and banners. The receptionist at the front desk smiled politely when I said I was from Mark Enterprises. She gave me the room number to drop the bouquet and files. I went upstairs and I knocked on the door but there was no answer. So I placed the flowers on the small table by the door, adjusted the folder, and turned to leave. I shouldn't have looked down the hall where Bryan and a woman were walking toward one of the event rooms. She was tall, slim, with her hair like something out of a magazine, and a very nice and seductive red dress. And she was laughing , too loudly, too comfortably. She touched his arm and he didn’t pull away, with that I just knew she was some that was quite close to him. He didn’t see me and I didn’t move. I just stood there for a second, watching, until my throat felt dry. Then I told myself to stop being stupid. He could be with whoever he wanted as he was Bryan Mark, CEO of the company, not some boy I was supposed to care about. I walked away immediately. The event started at seven and I stayed near the technical booth, helping one of the guys fix the slides. Bryan went up to give a speech and beside him, there she was the same woman from the hallway. She was Tessa, I guess. They looked good together, and for some reason, that made me feel sick. People clapped when he finished talking and the waiters started serving drinks and small plates. I just wanted to leave, but Vanessa stopped me. “Don’t leave yet,” she said, smiling like she knew something I didn’t. “Why not?” I asked “Bryan might need something. He and Tessa are in the private lounge.” “I wasn’t told to wait on him.” She leaned close, whispering, “Just being helpful. You’re his assistant, right? Do your job.” I wanted to tell her off, but I didn’t. Instead, I sat back down and waited. Every few minutes, I checked the time. It was eight forty and there was no message from him. At nine, I decided to check if he needed me or if I could finally leave. I walked to the room Vanessa had told me he lounged at, not out of interest, just curiously. When I reached the lounge, the door was slightly open and the first thing I heard was a low hum of music. Then a moan, and I froze. I should’ve walked away, but I didn’t. I pushed the door a little, and there they were. Tessa’s red gown was rolled above her breasts while Bryan's pants were dragged down his knees, Tessa was sitting on his laps and riding his c**k like her life depended on that. Her head was jerked to the back as they both moaned in pleasure. His fingers tangled in her hair as his mouth latched at the right breast, with his hand squashing the other. I don’t even know why. I just stood there, completely still. The noise from the hallway faded, and everything else disappeared. Then, as if he felt me there, he looked up and our eyes met, and for a moment, everything stopped. He froze, and I did too.
