Ava and Jordan’s Home, Los Angeles
October 7th, 2022 — 11:25 PM
I’d felt the distance between us for months, but tonight, frustration reached its breaking point. Jordan hadn’t touched me since I’d confessed to the kiss with Austin. He was constantly distracted, always at the office, always finding some excuse to avoid intimacy.
Enough was enough. Determined, I marched toward our bedroom door, ready to confront the man who’d promised me forever. I pushed open the door and froze.
Jordan sat on our bed, laptop open, earbuds in, and hand gripping himself tightly, clearly lost in the explicit video glowing on the screen. My blood ran cold.
“Are you f*****g serious right now?” I shouted, slamming the door behind me.
Jordan jumped, startled, and quickly slammed the laptop shut, scrambling for a pillow to cover himself. “Ava, s**t! What are you doing home?”
“Oh, I’m sorry,” I snapped, sarcasm thick in my voice. “I didn’t realize I needed to announce myself to my husband before walking into our own goddamn bedroom!”
“Look, Ava, calm down,” he stammered, embarrassment and irritation coloring his features as he tugged his sweatpants back into place. “It’s not that serious.”
“Not that serious?” My voice rose, rage bubbling over. “You haven’t touched me in months, Jordan. Months. Yet here you are, jerking off to porn like some teenager?”
Jordan’s face hardened instantly, eyes narrowing sharply. “Well, forgive me if I'm still a bit salty about my wife making out with her ex at the dealership. That kind of kills the mood, Ava.”
“I told you it meant nothing!” I shouted desperately, tears stinging my eyes. “It was a mistake, Jordan! But you’re punishing me like I cheated, really cheated!”
“It felt like cheating to me!” Jordan snapped back harshly. “You kissed a man you told me you loved once. So, yeah, I needed a minute! s**t, maybe I was just waiting to see if any spots or sores showed up before I touched you again considering how loose Austin’s always been according to you.”
My heart shattered, anger quickly overshadowed by deep hurt. “f**k you, Jordan. You know that’s not fair. You know damn well it wasn’t anything like that!”
Jordan exhaled roughly, pressing his palms against his forehead, frustration clear. “I’m sorry, Ava. That was out of line. But can you honestly blame me for struggling after that s**t? And yes, maybe the porn’s become a habit. It’s just stress relief.”
“That’s bullshit!” I yelled. “As your wife, your partner, that’s my job! My job is to help you release stress. Not some random b***h on your laptop!”
He threw his hands up defensively. “Well, maybe I wanted something uncomplicated, Ava. Something easy, something that wouldn’t kiss somebody else behind my back!”
“It was one kiss, Jordan!” I cried. “One stupid kiss shouldn’t ruin our marriage!”
“Maybe it shouldn’t,” Jordan agreed quietly, his tone softening as pain replaced anger in his eyes. “But right now, Ava, it feels like it did.”
We stared at each other across the painful silence, reality sinking in like quicksand. Jordan finally sighed deeply, looking away, defeated.
“I don’t know how to fix this right now,” he said quietly. “I really don’t.”
My throat tightened, tears finally spilling over. “Jordan…”
He shook his head, cutting me off gently. “Just…let’s leave it tonight, Ava. I need some space.”
I turned slowly, heart aching as I closed the bedroom door softly behind me. For the first time, our marriage felt truly broken and I wasn’t sure if it could ever be repaired.

Silence settled heavily in the suite, each woman absorbing the emotional weight of my confession. Finally, Keisha shook her head slowly, eyes sympathetic but stern.
“Ava, girl, I love you,” she began softly. “But I gotta say it, your ass deserved some of that smoke Jordan gave you.”
“Seriously,” Toni added. “I mean, sis, you opened Pandora’s box kissing Austin again. Did you really think Jordan would just forget it?”
I groaned quietly, nodding. “I know. Trust me, I’ve replayed that night in my head a thousand times. Jordan’s words…they hurt. Deeply. But I get why he said it.”
Camille exhaled slowly, leaning forward with gentle authority. “Look, Ava, you were wrong. But he didn’t need to hit you where it hurt most either. That was a low blow.”
“Exactly,” Nia murmured. “Mistakes don’t justify cruelty.”
Latrixa adjusted in her seat throwing one leg over the other. “Y’all missing the bigger picture here. Yeah, Ava f****d up. But why the hell does the universe keep throwing Austin in her path? Clearly, there's something deeper here.”
Toni chuckled. “The universe ain’t the one texting Ava coffee dates. Ava’s ass was the one who took Austin’s card. Let’s be real.”
“Maybe it was both. Austin kept reappearing at every turning point almost like fate. But yes, I know. I’m grown, I made those choices.”
“Look, Ava,” Keisha said. “Nobody’s marriage is perfect. Y’all had a real problem, and porn ain’t the solution. But Austin sure as hell wasn’t either.”
“I get that now,” I said softly, meeting her eyes. “But back then, all I knew was that my marriage was crumbling and I couldn’t stop thinking about the man who’d set me on fire years ago.”
Camille reached over, squeezing my hand. “Passion’s dangerous, Ava. It can burn you alive if you’re not careful.”
I exhaled shakily, tears threatening again. “Yeah. And I was playing with gasoline.”
“Then keep talking, Ava,” Toni encouraged.
“After that night, things between me and Jordan got worse. But more importantly Austin wasn’t done. Fate, the universe, or maybe just my own damn recklessness kept pulling us back together. And before I knew it, one kiss had turned into a full-blown inferno.”
