Harlow Pov I stood in the center of the room, staring at the door. The lock was in place, but it didn't make me feel safe. The siren was still screaming through the walls. A loud, terrified sob broke my trance. I whipped around. Max was sitting in the middle of the mattress, his knees pulled up to his chest and his hands clamped tightly over his ears. His face was red and blotchy with panic. "Mommy, make it stop!" he cried, squeezing his eyes shut. I rushed over, climbing onto the bed and pulling him firmly into my lap. I wrapped my arms around him, pressing his head against my chest to muffle the noise as best as I could. "I've got you, baby. I've got you," I hushed, rocking him slightly. "It's just a loud noise. It's going to stop soon." Piper was pacing at the foot of the bed.
