14 Layla “Can I have some water?” I asked, just out of spite. I wasn’t thirsty, not yet, but I hated being like this. I tried rolling my shoulders again, but that only made my arms, which had been pulled behind me, ache more and the rope around my wrists to dig deeper into the skin. My knees hurt from kneeling on the floor, even with the fur rug underneath them. I sat my ass on my feet and tried relaxing, but the ogres standing guard beside the wooden chairs in the room wouldn't let me.
