CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT Cooper checked the clock on his desktop display. It was a quarter to two in the afternoon. His boss would be returning from his lunch momentarily and he still hadn’t found a moment to nosh. Landing a chief of staff position at the tender age of twenty-eight to such an important person in the UK government was a coup. He was blessed to have been born to a mother—who just so happened to be life-long chums with a high-ranking member of the security services. She moved heaven and earth to get him where he was today. He owed everything to her. He opened the top drawer of his desk and pulled out a tuna fish sandwich that had been wrapped in aluminum. Cooper unfurled the foil and took a whiff. It was unique. Four plus hours cramped inside his desk did not make for a pleasan
