CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR The prison corridor was noisy. They were still several hours from lights out. Kellington carried a pillow and a blanket in his arms in between two correctional officers. The first one stopped in front of a cell and unlocked it. He noticed three additional officers lingering—just in case something went wrong. The door opened. The first officer entered. Kellington felt a nudge in his back—urging him to move. There were at least a dozen inmates in this rather large cell and almost every bunk bed was spoken for. The inmates ranged in age from young to old. The one thing they all appeared to have in common was that they were sizing him up. Man for man, this cell seemed like it was one of the more dangerous units in the facility. Govender had proven to be a man of his word
