RYLAN'S POV
I knew the moment I stepped into the Blue Diamond pack. The second she barged into her father's pack, and stood her grounds, without sparing me a glance. I knew my Christmas holiday was about to take a sharp turn.
One I hadn't prepared for. Albeit, I'll relish this moment, and use it to my advantage. As I stared at Amara, my blood roared with an adrenaline high, I wasn't going to come down from any time soon.
Her strawberry and vanilla scent was messing with my thoughts. I'd come to finish what Oakville pack had started with the Blue Diamond pack.
The Blue Diamond pack had bitten more than they could chew. Alpha Winston had a f*****g deal with my father, and he couldn't fulfil his own part of the deal.
Then again. This little nasty angel few feet away from me, was f*****g with my brain. Her hair was lavishly styled to compliment her physique. During my tours around the world, I'd seen beautiful models adorned in blue dresses.
Goddamnit! The sight before me eased my nerves, the way it made it rage with a mixture of pleasure and delight. None of the high class models. Or the bourgeoisies I've dated had come close.
I held gazes with her for a full three minutes. And the heat from those amber eyes pooled around my groins, my d**k hardened with a painful desire to hear her moan. Hear her scream my goddamn mansion to shambles.
‘Easy does it. She's yours for keeping and breaking.’
Alpha Winston rounded the table, and covered the distance between us. He cleared his throat, breaking the silence that hung heavily in the atmosphere. “Alpha Rylan!”
I raised a finger at him. “Point of correction—” a growl rattled my throat, when my gaze swept past the old man.
My wolf was on the edge of the cliff when he saw a lousy dude wrap his arms around his mates shoulders. “Take your damn hands off her!” I snarled.
The guy froze. His face was a pure mess of trying to be bold. His stench of cowardice filled my nose. My goodness! Are these the enforcers Blue Diamond pack boasted off.
“Luke, don't take your hands off me.”
The reins of anticipation doubled. Amara was strong willed. I could already smell the scent of her wolf's strength.
Dang it! I’d looked forward to meeting my mate. What I didn't know was that I'd enjoy every bit of seeing her break the barricade she'd set up against it.
Oh, it was clear as day. The flame of hatred that lit up her eyes could melt the snow totally. The way her shoulders bunched. And her wolf was equally as strong willed as its human.
This was going to be more fascinating than I thought.
I hated Christmas. King Walton, had to threaten my coach to force me back home, to spend the Christmas holidays. I guess there was about to be an exception to that.
My gaze shifted back to Alpha whose face was cloudy with fear. I patted his shoulders. “What do I say to this now?” I let my words linger. Then, I went right back in, “Amara is my mate!”
Gasps rented the air. Alpha Rylan's face was contorted in a frown. “It can be!” He turned to look at my mate. One look at her, and his face fell.
I sidestepped him, and covered the distance between us. The more I walked closer to her, the more her scent messed with my wolf.
“I believe we've met before. So I'll just make this fast.” I began. “On a good day, I'd have rejected you outrightly rejected you. But on second thought, how will I get your father to fulfill his part of the deal?”
“You monster!”
Mischief glistened in my eyes. For once in my life, I was torn between my feelings. My entire body ached to pull her in and dig my fangs at the side of her neck. I was dying to mark her so badly.
I reached for her hair, and ran a hand it. They slipped over my hands like silk. Amara pushed my hands off. “I don't care what deal you have with my father. But it has nothing to do with me!”
I dipped my hands into my pockets, to suppress the overwhelming feeling from getting out of proportion. “It has everything to do with you.” I looked around the faces of the people present.
Horror dug deep crevices on their faces. All eyes were fixed on me. It was like my time to get this over and done with. “My mate comes to my pack. I—” the horrible sound of cries, gasps filled the air.
“Alpha Rylan we can talk about this. Leave my sister out of this, she has nothing to do with this.” Kyle interjected.
“You see, that's the problem. My wolf can't let its mate out of his sight. Too bad!”
“I. Will. Not. Go!” Amara screamed.
The corner of my lips tipped up in a small smile. “I decide your fate,” The tone of my voice was so sleek, one could almost miss the dangerous ire attached to each word.
“Rylan– I mean, Alpha Rylan… remember you have a career to protect,” Kyle said again.
Kyle. Kyle. Kyle. He was getting on my nerves. Still, I let him speak his mind. “What would the world say? Your reputation as the next Lycan King and captain of the outlaw is at stake.”
“I have a mate bond to protect,” my gaze landed back to Amara. “My men will come to pick you up in two days. And if you try to play any funny games. I'll burn the Blue Diamond pack to the ground.”
It wasn't a threat. I don't bluff. They knew that much about my said reputation.
