After finishing my chores I walk slowly up the old stairs heading to my room. After being released from the hospital I tried to go back to my old routine, but the flashbacks started. I had to take the door to my room off. It now has saloon style doors with a curtain for privacy. My parents had to pull into their savings to get new carpet for my room. The blood from my wound was to disaster out on the carpet.
As I pushed open the saloon doors on to my room I couldn’t help but think that as a little girl I wanted saloon doors, they always looked so cool on the old westerns we watched on the one night a week we watched T.V. I sighed and shook my head. I got the necessities and went to the bathroom. After starting the shower I looked into the mirror. My once flawless complexion (I love my genetics) was now tarnished by the X shaped scar I received. I glared at the reminder of my stupidity until the steam overtook the mirror.I peeled the clothes I had on off of me, (sweat made all our clothes latch onto use like a leech to a toe) and stepped into the shower. I stood there for a few minutes, letting the warm stream relax my aching muscles, the got to business lathering my waist length hair with shampoo, after rinsing that I applied the conditioner, leaving it to sit in my hair I grabbed my luffa and got to work scrubbing all the dirt and sweat off my body. I slowly entered the streaming water and rinsed off my body and my hair. After all the conditioner was out of my hair I turned off the shower. Before I pulled the curtain back, I took a couple minutes to wring out my hair. Once the water no longer dripped from my hair I pulled the shower curtain back and grabbed my towel. Drying myself off, I got into a a different outfit, a pair of my jeans, a white long sleeved shirt, (crumpled up to show my fore arm, but hide my scars) and a mint, grey and purple plaid button down.
Now that I was fully dressed I applied the leave in conditioner and detangling spray into my hair and brushed it. I did my hair in my normal style, Braided about 2/3 of the way down, then I put it in a loose bun, and pinned the rest on my hair so it looked like I have bangs, while I wear my hat. Looking at myself through my bedroom mirror, I took a calming breathe and went down stairs.
Alyssas POV
I can’t get the image of Lobelliana out of my head. Seeing her on the floor, blood pouring out of her temple. In all my years of being a nurse I’ve never experienced anything so gruesome. I don’t even know how I went into nurse mode; I don’t remember calling 911. All I remember is seeing my little sister’s life slipping away with every ounce of blood she lost. The next thing I knew we were in the ambulance and the paramedics peeled me off of her to start proving life saving measures on her.
In what seems forever we ended up in the hospital and the doctors took her directly into an OR. I managed to gather my senses enough to call my parents.
*Flashback*
Sitting in the hospital chair I take a shaky breathe and call my mom and dad. After a few rings my dad picked up.
“Hello?”
“Dad, its Lobelliana. she’s in an operating room.” I say about ready to burst into tears again.
“What happened? Where is Maybell?”
“I don’t know, I had come home for lunch. Sadee went crazy as soon as I walked into the house. She ran from me too the stairs, looked at me and went to Lanas room. When I went into her room she was on the floor bleeding.” I was sobbing profusely.
“Let’s see she’s probably at counseling. We will go get her and then we will go to the hospital. Call us if anything changes call us.”
“Okay” I said, sniffling.
*End*
Right now we are sitting at the kitchen table, Lana is showering, mom is cooking dinner, the twins are out practice their horse riding. They wanted to come on the next cattle drive but their riding skills are novice, they can’t go for very long without falling off or getting sore.
We hear footsteps coming down the stairs, looking up there is my sister, or the emotionally damaged remains of her. We have all noticed when she goes into flashbacks; I asked a doctor colleague of mine about it and he mentioned PTSD. He gave me some pamphlets for the disorder. After reading through them it was exactly what she was going through, and the signs were there too. I needed to mention it to my mom and dad. Getting my sister to get help was like pulling teeth. She got that from our dad. Now it was trying to bring it up to my parents without my sister knowing.
