CHAPTER 20 After a week, the first light snow had blown in, and then mostly blown off again. The crisp, cold temperatures had kept it dry enough that the trail was still plain. Penrys found it even more visible from the air, while the snow was light and uneven, a faint but wide scar that meandered over the landscape, headed to the south and west. She was on her outward morning flight of twenty miles, looking for the mind-glows of people or larger animals.
