Maggie comes in through the back door with a coffee. ‘Thank god.’ She takes the coffee. ‘You look like shit.’ Maggie goes around the counter and rights the display. ‘Amber didn’t sleep, so I couldn’t sleep.’ Eloise breathes in the smooth coffee aroma and takes a sip. ‘Oh?’ ‘I’ve been dropping in and out, visiting. Amber’s not easy to spend time with at the best of times. I just… anyhow, I stayed there. Hold on.’ Eloise rings up a carton of beer for a guy, grins Merry Christmas cheer at him. ‘God, I need a break,’ she says and sips at her coffee. ‘Yeah, busy inside too. Charlie just got in, but I think I’ll have to stay back late.’ ‘I gotta leave early—I’ve got to go to the airport.’ ‘Oh? You going somewhere?’ Maggie grins, knowing this is as likely as Santa granting all their wish
