Teela's POV
Having successfully taken out all the brothers but one, we moved onto plans of how to take Kenji out. We found out he had a sister who was almost eighteen. I did have a strict rule that all members of the court had to be legal adults before joining. So we would have to deal with him for another six months. We made it this long, we could last another six.
Over the next six months, we gathered intel and dirt on Kenji. We know he won't be as easy, he hates all of us, so he won't touch us. That is a relief to all the court. Not that he wasn't good-looking, he just wasn't any of our type. It was going to take far more planning to get to him. The nine of us took a trip to my family's beach house.
"Okay, as you know, next month Kenji's sister will be turning 18. That means we need to hammer out the last of the plans for getting rid of Kenji," I start the meeting off.
"Are you sure he could die? That one is so mean I wonder if he has a good bone in his body," Rose replies.
"If Jade, Teela and I have good bones in our bodies, he has to as well," Donna responds.
"You three are just sadistic, that doesn't mean you are mean," Sophia injects.
There is a ripple of laughter among us. I am lost in thought while the others comment on who is the worst of the three torture queens. I smile when I come out on top. My mind drops back into pondering what we can do. I drift so far into my mind, I can no longer hear what they are saying. I'm pulled back by Anne shaking my shoulder.
"Where did you go?" she asked.
"I'm sorry, my mind is just hyper-focused on the Kenji problem," I apologized.
"We were getting ourselves back into that as well," Jade replied.
"I think I have an idea," Jewel chimed in. "I was able to hack into his company computer, and might I add, his firewalls and security need to be updated! But that can be taken care of when his sister takes over. Anyway, what I found, he has been trying to break our alliances with the few gangs that we have given power to. There is an email trail that he never thought to encrypt. He is making them promises that he can't keep. It's so pathetic, actually."
Anne's head pops up from her own computer, "That explains the emails I have been getting. It looks like the ones who are very loyal to the court are trying to let us know just what he has been planning. I have forwarded emails. Are these the ones you found?" She shows Jewel her computer.
"Yep, those are the ones. So at least we know that the ones who are reaching out to us are actually loyal. I have what looks like ten different gangs we work with, forwarding me emails from him. I'm going to forward these to everyone. Rose, are you able to add those to the encrypted file you have saved for all this kind of stuff?" Jewel replied, already sending it to everyone. Our phones all pinged as the emails came in.
"I will do that once I get everything. Teela, should I print these as well? I know we keep everything digital, but you also have the printed files that are kept under lock and key in your office should something happen to our tablets or phones," Rose inquires.
"Yes, and also make sure you save it to the cloud that Jewel has encrypted, as well as to a disc and hard drive," I tell her.
"Alright, done on the saving part. I will print it when we get back inside," Rose replied.
"Perfect, when we get back to town we can get in touch with our liaisons to the gangs and start the next stage of this," I said, lacing my fingers together.
"Actually, don't be mad, but I emailed them back that we had a plan and if they wanted to make him think they were in on his plan, it would greatly improve our chances of catching him. All of them have already agreed and will keep us appraised of how things go," Anne replied sheepishly.
"Never apologize for taking matters like this into your hands. That was actually a good thing. The sooner we get this started the better," I assured her.
All the girls nod and we look at our phones. Saving documents and backing up files. When we were finished, we set the phones down.
"What is our next move, Majesty?" Ruby asks.
"We could look into if he is meddling in our international affairs," Pearl suggested.
"Already ahead of you on that," Jade and Jewel said from their laptops.
While our hackers worked at that angle, I pulled up our holdings outlines for all aspects of our operation. Scanning the files to see if I could figure out just what he was trying to do. He had done nothing with any of our outreach programs. He never used any of his personal resources to help with the international programs. But I did see something in our weapons.
"Donna, there was a large sum funneled into our weapons budget that wasn't accounted for," I said, showing her.
She looked at it and narrowed her eyes. "I personally keep an eye on those accounts. But that is my family's account. I funnel our weapons through my family so they are clean. The only other person who would have any way into the family's weapon account is my younger brother Victor," she said, while looking at everything.
"Can you track who sent it and where the money went?" I asked her.
Donna opens her banking app and starts looking through everything. Her eyes narrow again. "It looks like these types of transfer have been going on for months. I never thought of them because my family sells weapons. Why wouldn't we get large sums of money in our account? But with this new information, Jade, Jewel, can you track where the money went?"
Jade hacks into the bank website and pulls up the account. In a couple of clicks she snaps her head up, "Money came from Kenji, listed as paying for arms and ammunition. And it looks like Victor sent the money to a private account of his own. Oh, and this is interesting. He is funneling money from the family account into that same account from other sales the family made on weapons."
Donna's face goes furious, "He's steeling from the family!" she bellows.
"It would appear that way," Jewel confirmed. She and Jade compared notes and Jewel spun her laptop around to show Donna.
Donna's face went through every shade of red and ended up almost purple. "He's dead," she shouted.
"I agree with you on him needing to be dealt with, but we need to figure out what he is doing with that money. If he is trying to overthrow us, we need those documents for when we take him down. Donna sweetie, you have to play the innocent sister who doesn't know what he is doing," I say, grabbing her arm. "Act on this too soon, and we will be sitting ducks."
Donna isn't happy but she calms down. She knows I'm right.
"Teela," Anne says, "One of the gang leaders messaged me back. Kenji wants to kill you, only you. He feels that without you the court would fall apart."
I smiled my most wicked smile and looked at Anne, "Perfect. Tell the gang leader to let him know his gang will do whatever they can to deliver me to him. But it will take time. If we play this just right, in six months the court will be complete."
