Chapter 28-Alpha Tone

Claudette's POV

“Alpha Blake said dinner is fine, but you are only allowed to go dancing if he gets done with his meetings in time to meet you there. Understand? Mark words are coming out like a command.

I reply in a playful tone trying to lighten up the mood. Sir, Yes, Sir. 

However, Mark did not find it funny he lets out a brief snort and leaves.

Julia at least got it and laughed.

Alpha Ace POV

I was not ready to leave Claudette yet. But I knew it would be strange for me to ask to tag along. It is not like I have not hung out with some of the she-wolves here. But usually, it is at an event, or one of them is begging me to hang out. Not the other way around.

A sudden loud noise like something being destroyed brings me out of my thoughts. So, what has got you so pissed off now, Blake? He has destroyed everything on his desk. F**king Claudette wants to go out on the town with Julia, but I have meetings and need Mark here for some of them. Why can she not just make it easy for me and stay here or go back to her pack? He says in a frustrated growl.

That’s strange. Most Alpha’s put off their responsibilities on their beta when they first meet their mate. But this is Blake we are talking about. It looks like he will be just like I expected one of those abusive, belittling, self-obsessed mates. The ones that do not consider their mate at all when it comes to making decisions.

My wolf starts to pace in my head at the thoughts of what Claudette will probably face one day with him as her mate. Why does my wolf seem so concerned with someone who is not our mate? After what happened with Callie, I promised myself not to get close to anyone like that again.

But just the thought of not seeing Claudette again makes not only my wolf feel sad but me too. Hmph…..

Well, brother, you could always tell her no or postpone your meetings.

“No, I’m going to have my delta and gamma accompany them on their little dinner and dancing bullsh*t things they want to do tonight.” His voice is dripping in anger.

Alright, man, whatever you think is best. Mind link me if you need anything I have prior arrangements that I must get back to.   

Claudette’s POV

4 hours later.

OMG, Blake still is not done with his stupid meetings. When Blake asked me to come to his pack, I thought he would spend time with me like mates usually do. But I guess I was wrong.

This is my last night of real freedom before I become mated to someone who really hasn’t had the time of day for me. I never really thought that I daydreamed that much about finding my mate, but I never thought it would be like this.

I have heard rumors about some mates who abuse or destroy their mates. I’m just hoping Blake is not like that. If he is, I could always reject him as a mate and take a chosen mate. Ace’s face suddenly pops in my head as a possible chosen mate.

I shouldn’t think like that. I know the minute I get my wolf, I will feel the mate pull and no longer want anything to do with Ace. I know I should not do anything stupid. But Ace is just so dreamy and mysterious. I can't help myself.

I shake my head to rid myself of those thoughts. 

Blake allowed me to go out with Julia without making a big deal about it. He is my mate, and he is busy. He is not ignoring me on purpose. But what about that girl who was in his office earlier today. He had time for her but not me. I can feel myself starting to get annoyed. Annoyed is putting it lightly. I feel pissed off. How dare he make time for another girl in his office while he should be spending time with his mate. Then have the nerve to say that we can only go to dinner unless he is with us. I push my food around a little more on my plate before looking up at Julia, who is stuffing her fast, just as fast as she can.

As soon as you are done, Julia, let's go to the club a couple of doors down. Her eyes get wide as saucers, and she stops mid-bite. Look, hear me out. I have never been one to break the rules before, but I do not want anyone to control me after what happened to me today.

I don’t care who it is. I want to have a say in what I do and when I do it. If anyone has a problem with that, well, that is just too damn bad because I’m taking control of my own life.

So, tonight I want to go out, and I hope you will come with me. “Claudette, I’m so sorry for what happened today.” I put my hand up to make Julia stop talking.

Julia, please do not apologize. This was probably one of the best things that could have happened to me. Before this, I would sometimes speak my mind, try to stand up for myself, but I would eventually conform like my parents or whoever else wanted me.

But now, I feel like I have discovered a new motivation to live the way I want. So, I’ll ask you again, are you with me or am I going by myself?

She hesitantly smiles and says, “I don't know about this. Aren't we going against the Alpha's orders?"

Not really, as Mark was the one who told us, and the last time I checked, he is not an Alpha. But I am an Alpha, so please do not make me use my Alpha tone on you. I give her a devilish smile.

Julia starts choking on her food as I tell her my plan. Okay, since the club is not far, we can walk and leave the lurches with the car.

" What? Are you crazy? We can not go against the Alpha and ditch our bodyguards."

Shhhh, do not be so loud!

It is simple. We pay for our meal, walk out with some other people and go directly down the street to the club. Once we are ready to go back to the pack, we walk back up to the car.

Alright, but what if we get caught. I'm not an alpha like you. It is like a light bulb in my head went off.

I'm so used to being with Kamila, who would have jumped at this opportunity or this side of me. I did not even realize I could be getting Julia in a lot of trouble. 

Using my Alpha tone, Julia, you are going with me to the club down the street, and we are not going to tell anyone we have left the restaurant. Do you understand me?
