Going Against the Alpha

Chapter 15-Tonight's the Night

 Claudette’s POV

While we are getting out of the car I ask, Mom, is it normal to be this nervous? I’m so worried my stomach is hurting. I feel like I need to poop.  “As long as you don’t fart loudly in there or have a silent but deadly one, you will be fine,” our mother says. This makes all of us laugh. I never expected our mother to say something like this. 

Just as we are getting ready to walk in the door, Kamila says, “Shoot. I forgot my lip gloss in the car. You two go ahead. I’ll be right there.” I hold the door for our mom, and we both go in while Kamila goes to get her lip gloss. As soon as we enter the event, there are a lot more people here than I expected there to be.

 Everyone is dressed to impressed. The men are all in suits and ties, while the females are dressed in evening dresses. Wow! There are other she-wolves here. I did not realize other females would be here since this night was for me to meet the alphas and betas. 

My mother must have noticed my hesitation and confusion. She tells me that some of the alpha or betas meet their mate while they were here. So, that eliminated them from being your mate, but we did not want to be disrespectful and disinvite them, so we invited them and their new mate.” I glad she told me because I would have still been confused about why other females were here. I’m not mad or jealous because it is a relief and takes some pressure off me.

Alpha Blakes POV

It is D day or P day, so to say. I chuckle at how funny I am. Tonight is the night that my plan is put into motion. I have it all figured out. My Beta Mark will arrive early to scope out the place. He will link me when Claudette arrives. Once I get there, he will let me know where she is and who she is with. This will let me know if I need to be a possessive mate or not. Since she is not my real mate, I will not be able to sense her like I could if she were my real mate. However, I need her to believe that we are mates. Once I make a scene, it will be easier for her to fall for my charm once she receives her wolf. Not to mention a little help from the spell that will be cast on her later, making sure she feels the so-called “mating bond.” I smile at myself in the mirror with how deviously smart I am.   

I yell into the other room to my beta, “Mark, are you ready?” He comes out in an all-black suit and tie. Our suits almost match. The only difference is I’m wearing a blood-red colored tie. Yes, I am, he says. I look him over to make sure nothing is out of place before continuing our conversation. 

Mark, this has to go perfectly, nothing can be off, or it could cause her to doubt if I am her mate before our new partner can finish her part of the deal on Thursday, I tell my beta. “Yes, sir, I am leaving now to get there early to scope out the place. Blake, before I leave, do you need anything from me?” he says.

 Mark, the only thing I need you to do is not forget to mind link me once she gets there. “I won’t let you down,” he says as he heads out the door.

Now I have to be patient. But being patient is not easy for me, especially since my original plan had to take a slight shift because Kamila had found her mate. I originally scoped out both girls. I discovered that Kamila was more naive than her sister Claudette. She wanted a mated so bad she would never question who it was or if they were her true mate. 

Which was what I was looking for. I was going to pretend to be her mate. However, I had to change my focus to Claudette because Kamila’s stupid mate found her. UGH, that stupid Alpha Denver. He almost ruined my plans. 

However, lucky for him, I had already had a run-in with Claudette, and I didn’t even have to fake stage it. So it seemed that it would be better to go with her since I did not try to move away from her when it happened. I wasn’t shocked when I saw her drooling all over me. All girls are like that when they meet me.

  “Alpha, she is here. She just arrived with her mother. It looks like two guys are headed in their direction. I’m going to join them, so if she moves, I can let you know quicker” my beta mind links me. I immediately mind link him back Mark, do not be too obvious. I’ll let you know when I arrive.

Claudette's POV 

“Come on, sweetie, let's grab a drink,” I hear my mom say as she grabs my hand, pulling me from the entryway to the refreshment bar. I can’t help but be in awe at how great this place looks. There is a big, beautifully decorated table in the center of the room and what looks like a new Chandelier hanging from the ceiling. 

We are headed to the refreshment bar set up in the far-left corner of the room. When three beautifully tall, handsome divine men approach us. I was really hoping mom was going to let me get an acholic drink before meeting anyone. At least it would have helped curve some of the nerves. 

“Luna Anna, “I am Alpha Abraham of the blue blood moon pack, this is my beta Lark, and this is beta Mark of the night shadow pack.” The one who Introduced himself as Alpha Abraham has his dark hair tied up in a bun. He has blue eyes and is wearing a navy-blue suit with a black tie. The man on his left, Beta Lark, Also has blue eyes. His hair, however, is blonde and about shoulder length. He is wearing a black suit with a navy-blue tie.

 Beta Mark from the night shadow pack has brown hair with hints of red through it and blue eyes. He is wearing an all-black suit and tie like he is attending a funeral. It doesn’t look bad, though. It gives a mysterious kind of vibe to him.

And who might this stunning lady beside you be?” Alpha Abraham asks. I can feel my cheeks turning red. Before I can say who, I am my mother answers. “This is my daughter who hasn’t meet her mate yet, Claudette. She is giggling and pushing my arm like a schoolgirl. 

After what she said, I wish the floor would open and swallow me whole. I don’t speak because I have no clue really what to say after being so embarrassed. I’ve never had my mother push men on me before. Over the years, I have grown accustomed to her typical defensive “can I help you, or do you need something, or her most famous line my daughter is not allowed to date, so get lost." This new version of her is throwing me into a shocked sort of state. 

When I think I have no hope at all, I see Kamila walk in with Alpha Denver. Well, no wonder it took her so long. Whatever, thank goodness Kamila is finally here. Now, if she can read my face and get her butt over here, I needed back up like three strangers ago. Yes! It looks like she saw us. 

Please, no one, stop them! What did we miss? Kamila asks. “Kamila, Alpha Denver, this is Alpha Abram, his beta Lark of the blue blood pack, and this is Beta Mark of the night shadow Pack. This is my other daughter Kamila and her mate Alpha Denver of the moonshine pack,” our mother says. Hello, it is nice to meet all of you, Kamila says. "Kamila was lucky and able to find her mate before her 18th birthday because Alpha Denver can feel the mating bond.” My mother praises.

This is just causing me to feel further embarrassed and giving me a little self-doubt. If my mate were here, would he not have already come and introduced himself to me by now. Maybe he is not here yet. That might be it. I’m pulled from my thoughts when I feel a hand on my left arm. Oh, I’m sorry, what? “Would you like to get a drink?” A new stranger asks. I do not even hesitate or ask any more questions. 

This is my opening to get away from this conversation, and I’m taking it. Yes, please. I’m pretty much slow running to the refreshment bar. The man behind me is trying hard to keep me from hearing him laughing at my actions. But I do not care. 

At this point, I’m not stopping until I reach my destination, the refreshment bar.
