Claudette's POV
I walk into her view. Her lip scrunches up in disgust. I breathe a sigh of relief. Mom, if they have it in a different color, it would be cute. She flicks her hand in the air, meaning for me to try another one on as I’m making my way back to my dressing room.
Kamila comes out in the same dress, but the color is black. OMG, I love that one is all I can think. As I enter my dressing room, I hear my mother make her approving comments. I try on more none that are cutting it, though.
I keep telling myself to stick it out. Hopefully, it will be over soon. Whatever I do, don’t get mad. I start to put on the last dress. It is an olive-green color, sleeveless/ tank top style. Not too tight, not too loose, hangs just right. The dress goes all the way to the ground with a slit up the side.
I have the biggest smile on my face looking at myself in the mirror. Oh, I hope my mom approves of this one. I walk out to show her, and before I get to where she can see me, I notice she is no longer there. Where did she go? The salesgirl Sally walks by and sees me looking around for her.
“Miss, she left. She told us to let you know that they will be at the dinner.” I scoff perfect! I ask the girl to get the dresses I want. Of course, I am getting them in a different color and quickly have her put them on my mom’s account. If my mother had stayed, I wouldn’t have done that.
However, since she just left without saying I couldn’t get different ones, I’m getting what I like. I’ll just ask for forgiveness later.
By the time I get over to the dinner, we are getting our food. Thankfully Kamila knows me so well. She orders me a burger, fries, and a coke. I sit down without saying a word and start eating. I need to hurry so I can talk to my mother before she is done eating.
I feel like I inhaled my food from eating so fast. Maybe I was hunger than I realized I was. Mom and Kamila are still eating and talking about how lucky Kamila is to have found her mate. This is perfect timing. I can bring it up, hopefully without rubbing either of them the wrong way.
I smile and start with, aren’t they the cutest, though. They looked so perfect together last night. He was so protective too. Mom, do you think it is a good idea for me to go on dates with the Alphas and Betas that are here visiting. I mean, what if one of them is my mate.
What if they get mad like Denver did when he found out about Kamila having to go on dates. Would it not make more sense just to have dinner or something so they could all meet me. This way we would know if one of them is my mate. If they aren’t…… She stops me in the middle of my sentence. “Well, hunny, you do make some good points.
This would help to narrow it down quicker. Claudette, I will talk to your father this evening. But you must remember that even if you are not mated to one of them, you will be married to one of them. Your father and I have already decided you will have an arranged marriage if none of them are your mate.” Yes, mother, I understand.
I’m so excited but at the same time nervous. It just seemed a little too easy to convince her to do something other than what she had planned to do. I wonder if it is because their plans were already ruined when Kamila found her mate. Whatever the case is, I’m not going to worry about it now.
Alpha John’s POV
I have to be at my meeting in less than an hour. What could be so important that my wife needs to talk to me right now? Ann, I’m home! We need to make this quick. I have a significant client that I have to meet in town. I looked in the kitchen, living room, garage. Where could this woman be at?
Climbing up the stairs, I yell out Ann! She comes out of the bathroom with a towel on her head. “Sorry John, I was washing my hair.” We need to talk about the dates that Claudette is supposed to be going on. I think we need to reconsider. Instead, I was thinking of having a small dinner with all of the alphas and betas. We can invite some of the other unmated females too.
This will allow us to know if she is mated to one of them without potentially make one of them angry. If she isn’t mated to any of them, then we set up an arranged marriage. This way, it goes faster, and they don’t need to stay here until the end of the week. So, what do you think, John?”
I couldn’t hold back how aggravated I am. I snap at her. Seriously you couldn’t just mind link this to me? Well, what day are you thinking of doing this dinner on? “Would Tuesday or Wednesday be okay?” She asks. Ann that is fine, we can do whatever you want. I have an important business meeting I need to get to in town.
I’ll try not to be back too late. I quickly kiss her on the cheek, and out the door, I run. I decided to shift into my wolf to run there. This would help to make me feel less aggravated and take less time to get there.
