Amelia's POV
“Please, I need to……” I trailed off, pointing at the limb.
“For f**k's sake.” He hissed, pacing back and forth.
“It belongs to my mother,” I confessed and the Alpha stared at me like I had grown an additional head.
“You brazen b***h. You killed your mother and took off with her hand? For what exactly? To show off?” He pulled me up and said each word with a deep frown.
“I will forever be indebted to you if you permit me to bury her remain here. Please.” I didn't bother to stop the tears and just let it fall. How could I fight against him?
“I, Gerald Walton, Alpha of Crimson Moon Pack reject Amelia Evans, as my mate and Luna.” He said with finality.
“Gerald Walton?”
“The legendary Alpha who killed his father and mated his sister?” I muttered, staring at him with an open mouth.
I would have died if I wasn't his mat…… A piercing scream left my mouth as raw pain chewed me from inside out.
“I accept your rejection, Gerald. Thankfully, I don’t have to spend the rest of my life with another tyrant.” I clutched my stomach after the pain had subsidized a bit and regretted my words.
“I would mind my words if I were you.” His eyes darkened as he closed the distance between us.
I wiped my sweaty palm on my shorts and made a move to leave but Gerald blocked my way. Without giving me time to process anything, he pulled me in for a kiss.
I wish I could resist him. But I couldn’t. Darn, the mate bond.
The moment he bit my lips, I was done for. I moaned into his mouth but the sight of my mother's remains jolted me back to reality.
I slapped him hard, cussing at him. Another wave of pain slammed my body when Gerald sank his canine into my neck. My legs gave out and my eyes dilated.
Gerald's POV
“Godamn it.” I bit out, continuously raking my fingers in my hair. I just complicated the situation by marking her. What came over me?
The first thing that caught my attention was her shining auburn hair. It was way past midnight when I decided to join the guards on patrol. Her hair led me to her.
“Only if I had listened to my wolf, I wouldn't be trapped in this situation.
It has been peaceful in Sileria for quite a while now but I couldn't shake off the feeling that something weird was happening in the eastern packs.
A month after the Council meeting, a stack of wolfsbane was reportedly found close to Duskfire Pack and it led to an internal investigation but the council found nothing. Or maybe they chose to keep the information confidential.
After the death of the last Royal Lycans, the council took a drastic turn. The eastern packs tried to take control but luckily, the news of a surviving Royal Lycan spread like widefire in every corner of Sileria, putting the eastern packs in their place.
“I'm 10 minutes away from the pack's boundary, Larry. Derek's report just came in and it confirmed our suspicion. The cave collapsed a few days ago.” I had mindlinked the chief of guards immediately Derek left my private office at the safe house.
“On guard, Alpha.” He replied and I blocked the mindlink.
“Avery,” I called my maid. She was a reserved girl who was good at keeping secrets.
“Yes Alpha,” She answered immediately, gracing me with her presence as if she had been waiting for me to call her name. She was the only maid that I trusted with the pups.
“I have urgent business to attend to and it may take a few days. You know what to do.” I pat her shoulder and headed towards the door.
“I understand, Alpha.” She replied with a 90-degree bow. I hummed and left my sanctuary.
I got to the boundary in less than forty minutes but I didn't notify the guards of my presence. They must have felt my presence because a few of them acknowledged me through the mind link.
Then I saw her. I shouldn't be happy but my heart raced. It felt surreal until I saw what she was holding.
“Arrest her,” I ordered. The safety of my people was my priority and I intend to keep it that way even if it means rejecting my mate.
Larry did the honors but her action thereafter shocked me to the core.
“How dare she humiliate me like that? I could smell her arousal for Goddess's sake. And in a situation like this?” I thought, walking up to her without bothering to mask my anger.
‘Her scent's weird’. My wolf added.
‘It doesn't matter. She may be a spy for all I care.’ I challenged. My wolf is hot-headed and is always on edge.
After I rejected her, She said such harsh words which the outside world regarded as truth but I ignored it.
“Let's take her.” My wolf advised but I ignored him.
He fought for control and then used my moment of distraction to kiss her.
Funny enough she reciprocated but a slap was all it took to take back my control. My wolf wasn't done yet, he extended his canines and marked her.
All this was to punish me for ignoring him.
“What about Lylah?” I was so pissed. How was I supposed to explain to her? She hasn't forgiven me yet and you just added more baggage to my problem.
‘You are an Alpha, deal with it.’ My wolf spat and curled into a ball, leaving me to my thoughts.
“The strongest Alpha by the way,” I said pissed.
“That’s irrefutable,” My wolf asserted with a wolfish grin. Despite our odds, we always agree on something at the end.
“All I have to do is avoid her. That's it.” I convinced myself and took Amelia to my sanctuary.
“Larry, contact Morgan. I have a job for him.” I ordered and blocked the mind link without waiting for his reply.
I arrived at my safe house and stepped into the building. But a strange feeling pinched my subconscious. It was midnight but the kitchen lights were still on. Strange.
I was so distracted by the whole mate thing that I didn't notice the foreboding atmosphere.
”Avery?” I muttered, as beads of sweat formed on my forehead.
