Chapter Two - Breaking the rules

1483 Words
Joe’s P.O.V Amaya and I got everything to her dorm room, easily because the campus was pretty quiet, classes don’t officially start for a few days, most people not here yet which worked out well. We were maybe only unpacking her car but we had fun, she was very how can I put it…unique, she was feisty but sweet…a smart ass of sorts but had a shyness to her too and on top of all that she was funny too and very clumsy, it was sort of sweet. “How about that coffee now?” I smiled as we sat the last of her things in “Yes…I need it.” she laughed I shouldn’t be doing this, spending time with her like this, it is breaking so many rules…the sort of rules that could get me into a lot of trouble if anyone knew. This was not the plan, the plan was I would go help her because she looked lost. My plan was to show her where she was looking for because this was a big campus and it was easy to get lost, that was all it was meant to be. Though that quickly changed when I seen her up close, she was beautiful but it wasn’t only that it was that smart ass mouth of hers that got me too. Yes this is all wrong but it is only a one-time thing because she is going to find out the truth very soon and she will not want to spend her time with me that I know for sure and honestly that would be for the best, no matter how much we click. And we do click…well I think we do. I was taking us off campus for coffee, it was better that way…safer. There was a café about ten minutes away from campus that I went to, no one knew who I was there and it was a little too old fashioned for the people that do know me to come too so it was perfect. “Are you hungry?” I asked as we walked “A little…not ate since I left this morning.” She pouted “OK…Well where we are going does food too, nothing too fancy, things like sandwiches, baguettes, soups, and those kind of things.” I said “Sounds good, I like those things anyway…I am easy pleased that way.” Amaya giggled “That is good to know…” I chuckled Amaya smiled widely at me and I placed my hand on the small of her back, leading us inside when we arrived. I looked around, finding us a seat that was away from the door and the windows just to make sure. I handed her a menu, letting her have a look through it. I knew what I was ordering, instead of looking at the menu I found myself looking at her. She was concentrating hard on the menu, her tongue pocking out her mouth a little. I chuckled to myself, she looked very cute when she done it. “Why are you laughing at me dude?” She said wriggling her nose, looking up at me “Yes…has anyone every told you that you stick your tongue out when you are concentrating on things.” I laughed “I do not, shut up…” she said glaring at me “Yes you do…it is sort of cute.” I smirked “Cute? It is not cute…stop talking rubbish.” She laughed, shaking her head and getting back to the menu, doing the same thing as a moment ago but I decided not to mention it this time in case I made her mad again. The waiter came over, taking our orders for us…both ordering coffees and a toasty each “What is it you do anyway?” she asked looking up at me “Um…music.” I said smiling at her It was the truth, just not the whole truth…she would find that out soon enough “Really? Do you play? Sing? Write?” she said excited “All of the above. I play Piano, Guitar and the drums sometimes…I also sing and write my own lyrics and music.” I smiled “What about you, you said you were here doing music?” I added “I play guitar, would love to be able to play piano but never had the chance. I sing a little too but not in front of people…write and produce too, had my own little recording studio back up, it was nothing special but it was mine.” she said smiling “Why do you not sing in front of people?” I asked “Stage fright, tried it once never went very well.” She said sadly “You can’t give up after one try, maybe doing music at College can help you with that.” I smiled “You never know…maybe.” She said sweetly Hmm maybe I could help her with that. I have a confidence when it comes to those things, I love being on stage, letting people listen to the words I wrote, there was something amazing about it that made me feel alive. I would soon be in a position where I could help her, though there is a chance she will not want my help when she realises who I am. “Do you do like shows?” she asked “Yes at least a couple a month, only small places though like bars and small venues.” I said “That is amazing. I have been to a lot shows and in my opinion, the smaller they are the better, it makes it feel more alive…more personal.” She said “Yes I couldn’t agree more…” I said her and I thought in very similar ways Music was a huge part of my life…of me, had been since I was three, it has always been a safe place for me “When did you discover you talent…your love for music?” I asked “How do you know I have talent? I could be terrible and kidding myself.” She giggle “I found my love for music when I was about five, now here I am sixteen years later and still have the same love for it.” she added So that makes her what…twenty-one? I was sort of hoping she would be a little older than that but at least she in her twenties, I am thirty, not too bad I guess, not like any of this matters anyway. “Yes same…had music in my heart for many years.” I smiled “Many? how old actually are you…just curious.” She asked biting her lower lip I swallowed hard when she done that, my mind drifting for a moment away from the question that she asked me. Pull yourself back, you can’t go down that road…too much trouble for me to think that way “Um…I am thirty…and you are what, twenty-one if I counted right?” I said “Yes I am…thirty, I thought you were around that age when I first seen you.” She smiled “So are you like married or anything?” she added “Nope…single, you?” I asked hoping she would say no even though I know I couldn’t do anything about it “Same…had enough of guys in high school, just wanna concentrate on College.” She smiled “That is good…guys can wait.” I smiled, well sort of She nodded, smiling “but you never know, maybe a guy may come along and grab my attention when I least expect it.” she said smirking at me I looked at her a little confused, in return she winked at me, followed by a giggle. Was she talking about me? Probably not, she is only messing with me and even if she meant it I couldn’t do anything about it even though I want to…many times today I wanted to pull her into me and kiss her but I couldn’t…no matter what. “Yeah, you never know.” I said taking a sip of my coffee Amaya gave me another smirk, resting back on the seat and taking a sip from her own cup. I think I was in trouble…big trouble.
