Falling For My Mysterious Saviour

WHY THEY BETRAYED ME

 Mariam’s P.O.V.

I slowly opened my eyes and groaned in pain. My whole body was aching so badly. I tried to move a bit but screamed in pain. I felt a piercing pain in my chest as if something had broken inside my chest. I was crying hard. Did I die? There was dense darkness around me. I was not able to see anything clearly. I could say that I was not in the forest now. I was lying on something soft but I was not assured whether it was a mattress or something else. There was a nice smell around me but I couldn’t find any source of this smell due to the darkness around me.

I cried silently and recalled all my memories. I was so happy when I said yes to this vacation with my fiancée Warrick and my best friend and my cousin Valerie. We both were the perfect trio since middle school and was never separated. Warrick proposed to me when we were in high school and now we were going to marry soon after a long relationship of seven years. He was a handsome man with a tall build up around six feet with golden-brown hair and amber eyes. I was junior to him. I was so happy. I clearly remembered the day when Valerie proposed this vacation here in Florida. There were so many forests around this city where I could bird watch as long as I can.

Yeah.. I love bird watching. It was my favourite hobby and I was also a famous wildlife photographer at this very young age. I had taken my passion for wildlife photography as my career and was now successful. I was working as a freelancer as I didn't like a time-bound job. I was happy with my life. I had everything that I required. My father died due to cancer when I was only 7 years old. My mother was a strong woman. Against every odd, she fought bravely and raised me on her own. I loved her so much and wished that I also had her courage.

Valerie was my cousin from my mother's side. We both were friends too and with time, we became friends too. We both met Warrick in middle school. He was our senior and saved us from a bunch of stray dogs one day when we were returning home from school. Since that day, both I and Valerie stuck with her. It was not like he complained ever. My mother was an amazing cook and he liked whatever she made for my lunch.

When Valeria proposed to have this vacation before we start the preparation for our marriage, I immediately agreed. However, it took a lot of effort to make Warrick agree. He was a rising entrepreneur and his business required his proper attention. So, we planned a three days vacation at the weekend. Never in my dreams, I ever thought of being betrayed by them, the most trusted people in my life. They backstabbed me and now, here I was struggling for my life. Heck, I even didn't have any idea whether I was alive or not.

Suddenly I coughed harder that brought the pain in my chest and I yelped in pain. "Relax... everything will be okay", I heard a cold but soothing voice in the dark and that made me scared. It was a man for sure. It meant that I was alone with that man here in the darkest place that I had ever seen. "Wh... who are you?" I stuttered hard due to fear while trying to look around me.

"You are safe for now, love.... you are not dead but badly injured... your body is not healing as it should heal... rest.. don't try to move your body. You will hurt yourself more", he almost commanded me and I didn't know why his cold voice sent a chill in my spine and I was relieved at the same time. I was not dead. It meant that I was still alive. "You saved me", I asked the person looking around me for any hint of him. There was silence again around me.

I waited for him to answer but there was no sound. I wondered how he was able to walk in the darkness. I closed my eyes and thought about his voice. It was so cold but shooting at the same time. However was my saviour, I owed him with my life. I was not sure who was he but he was taking care of me and it was enough for me to hope to see my mom soon. I was only worried about her. How was she now? What was she doing right now? How did she take the things about my disappearance?

Again I felt dizzy and exhausted after I didn't know how much time. I didn't know where I was but I was safe. I had this feeling that this person would not let something happen to me again. I didn't know about my exact condition but I was sure that I had so many bruises and injuries all over my body. Every bone and muscle was aching badly by now. "Here... drink this... you will feel better", I almost screamed when he suddenly said. This time he was very close to me that made my heartbeat accelerate.

"O My God... you .. you scared me", I yelled while taking deep breaths. I was really scared by now. "I told you that you are safe then why are you scared?" he asked me and at the same time, I felt something cold on my lips. A liquid touched my lips and I immediately opened my mouth. I was in a laying position on my back but my upper body was a little high that I noticed now. "I can't able to see you", I told him after drinking whatever that liquid was. The taste was bitter and sweet but soothe my choked throat.

"There is no need to see me. Just relax and take a rest. This is what you need right now. I will come again", he said and then there was silence again. I couldn't hear any footsteps around me. Was he floating in the air? I didn't hear any sound of opening and closing the door. How could he enter in a closed room as there was no blowing air around me? I was totally confused but I felt my lids getting heavy. I yawned aloud which made me wince a little. It meant that I had bruises on my face too.

I had so many questions in my mind right now. Above all, I wanted to know where was It right now? How was my saviour and how he could enter and exit the room without being noticed? My lids went heavier with every passing second and soon I again went into a deep slumber.

Unknown's P.O.V.

I saw her going back to sleep. She was wounded and needed rest. I found her almost dead deep inside the forest a weak ago. I didn't want to save her back then but when I heard their filthy mouths that made my now cold blood boils in anger. I wanted to kill them in one swift move but couldn't. So, I decided to save her. By her condition, I was sure that she had given a big fight for her rescue. It showed that she was a fighter but now on the deathbed. I did everything that I could do to save her.

I didn't know who was she? I had captured one of them and through him, I came to know that they were hired by someone to kill her. They had held her captivated for two days and tortured her. They beat her so badly. Somehow she managed to escape from their captivating and also gave them a good chase. Of course, I killed that bastard because of his intention for her. I felt a possessiveness for her that I didn't understand. In my whole life span, I was never so possessive for anything or anyone let alone a girl.

"What are you?" I whispered while stroking her hair gently and slowly. She was in deep slumber and I didn't want to wake her up now. She stirred a little and smiled. Her smile was like a beam of light in this darkness around us. I smiled while looking at her beautiful but bruised face. I would do everything to save her and then I would help her to go back. Did I really want her to leave me? This was the question that I didn't want to answer right now.
