Abandoned

Ethan’s mansion In the middle of the silent sitting room, sat Ethan Edwards like the god of his time. His gaze was focused on Vince, his assistant who was shivering under his cold gaze. " What the hell did you just say?" " The old man ordered not to let you leave the mansion today. It's dangerous outside." " Who the hell are you to tell me what to do? I can't even do what I want anymore?" " Am sorry young master but it's an or..." " I dare you to complete that and have your tongue pulled out of your mouth. Are you now switching sides? Where does your loyalty lie? Has that old man bought you over? Who pays your salary?" Veins we're popping out of his forehead as he said each word. " Answer me you bastard!!" He couldn't help but yell when Vince kept mute. " Am sorry young master." " If you don't get those guards and your pathetic self out of my sight then, you can as well consider yourself jobless." Vince couldn't wait another minute. It was already suffocating enough for him to continue standing there. He immediately signaled the guards and together, they all tried to make themselves invisible. Ethan immediately walked out of the mansion. He was wearing simple but fashionable clothes that can help him blend well without being noticed. Edwards’ mansion " He left, ... I knew those fools won't be able to stop him. He's just as stubborn as his father." Grandpa Edwards muttered after his right hand man Butler Song informed him of what happened in Ethan's mansion. " Give me my phone." Butler Song passed him his phone and he immediately dialed Ethan's number and after a few rings , the call got connected. " Seriously grandpa, you can't keep doing this. I need my own space." " You unfilial son. Shouldn't you be thinking of how to get married and give me great grandchildren? Rather you choose socializing over giving the Edwards’ an heir." " How can I find the perfect granddaughter- in-law if I don't socialize?" Ethan retorted. " You scoundrel. Are you saying that I am too old to understand you?" " Of course you're an old man, do you think you're young?" " What!!!" " Take care of your health grandpa, to avoid giving yourself a heart attack. Am not ready to mourn you." Ethan said and as quickly as he could, he disconnected the call to avoid being scolded. " That brat..." There was a smile on his lips as he turned to Butler Song " At least that unfilial grandson of mine still thinks about my health... Song, give me my night medication now." Butler Song immediately gave the old man his meds which he took in high spirits. Domergue's mansion, Marvin William stepped out of his car and immediately stopped in front of Domergue's mansion. He is a rich third generation who attends Dazzle. He graduated from the same high school as Daisy and has long been expecting her to join him in college. He knocked on the door and it was Mira who opened the door. Seeing the person at the door, she immediately put on a charming smile as she invited him in. " It's been so long Marv, and you've become more handsome. Don't worry, you won't be lonely in college anymore. I will be joining you this year." Mira gushed after she had served him a glass of wine. " You got admitted?" Marvin asked... He was clearly surprised. " Yes and I can't wait to resume." " Nice," Marvin commented dryly. He was clearly not interested in the topic. " Where's Daisy?" This question made Mira frown. She already knew that he was here to see Daisy but somehow, she thought she could divert his attention to herself for some time but her plans failed. " She'll be back soon." Just as she finished talking, Daisy walked in. It was already late and she was very tired. " Daisy." There was excitement in his voice as he stood to give her a hug. " Oh... I didn't know that you were here." " You must be tired. I wanted to know if you got accepted into college this year." His voice sounded hopeful as he stared at her with so much admiration. Daisy stared at Mira briefly before shaking her head slowly. " I didn't." " It's fine. You should shower and come downstairs. I have something to discuss with you." He said covering up the momentarily disappointment he felt. " Okay." Daisy held her bag as she began to climb the stairs to her room. Mira glared at her back jealously, till she was out of sight. An idea immediately struck her and she quickly turned to Mavin. " Marvin, do you know the kind of work my sister does?" She sounded enthusiastic as she waited eagerly for his reply. If Marvin was so interested in his sister, she could as well destroy the image of her he had in his mind. " No." His answer came casually and without much thought. " She works at Twilight hideaway the popular night club down the street. You should know that no work in the night club is a clean one right? Am just looking out for you and I don't want you to end up with a used woman... You deserve better Marv. I know you like my sister but I can tell you that she's not the right one for you. You don't want people pointing you and your family when you eventually get married to her." Mira's eyes were focused on him through out in other not to miss his reactions. Marvin buried his face in his palms in deep thought. Somehow,, he didn't believe Mira but where else could Daisy be coming from at this time of the night? It was already past 11pm and definitely no decent lady would be seen out by this time. After some minutes, he raised his face. His eyes were so red as a result of how sad and betrayed he felt. " Thanks for telling me this and not allowing me to make mistakes." Each word came out with difficulty as he tried hard to stop the hurtful tears from pouring out of his eyes. " I'm glad I could help." Mira was all smiles as he clung to him tightly trying to get him to succumb to her since he was currently vulnerable. She already knew of how gullible he was and that was why she said everything knowing that he wouldn't even investigate or refute her words. It has always been her wishful thinking to get married to Marvin William since she came of age, but unfortunately, Marvin only had eyes for Daisy. She grabbed this opportunity and tried getting closer to him. " Marv, there are other ladies who are responsible just like me. You need to let go of your feelings for my sister. She's promiscuous. Marvin just gave her a cursory glance before he went into deep thoughts again. " I'll give it a thought." He said and without waiting, he stood up and walked out with Mira's words lingering in his mind. *. *. *. *. * 30 minutes later, Daisy came down. She now had a comfy conservative nightwear on and she smelt like mint shower gel. She glanced at the sitting room as if in search of something. " He left." Mira interrupted her thoughts coming out of the kitchen with a plate of sliced fruits " Left??" " Yes. After he found out that my dear sister works at a night club." Her tone was casual and accusing at the same time. She was daring Daisy to see what she would do. " What kind of work did you tell him I do there?" Though she knew that Mira never liked her, she hoped against hope that she had put in a few good words for her sake. " How would I know? I don't even know what you actually do at the club house, so I can't defend you." Though she didn't like Daisy, she always tried to make her words less harsh because of the things she always got to enjoy in her stead. * * Daisy picked up her phone and dialed Han's number. She decided to call him after she left Mira downstairs. She paced up and down in her room as she dialed his line over and over again. She groaned in frustration when the call went unanswered again. Just as she was about giving up , his call came in. " Marv..." " Let's get married." Although Daisy knew how Marvin felt about her , this still came as a shock to her. " huh???" " Let's get married, have kids and grow old together." he had left the house earlier and had planned to cut all ties with her but after thinking about possible reasons why she decided to work at a club house, he decided to get married to her instead in order to save her the stress of depending on those little job for survival. " Are you sure this is what you want?" She was still uncertain about the whole marriage stuff. " Yes." " Then let's do it" Daisy saw this as the perfect opportunity to make her escape from her family. She knew that her motive was selfish considering the fact that Marvin really loved her but she needed someone as powerful as he is by her side to escape the clutches of her family. She also knew that if she got married to him and became the mistress of the William household, she would be free to attend any prestigious college of her choice. " I'll inform my parents and we can get married in two days. we can sign our marriage certificate after the wedding." " Two days? isn't it too sudden? we need to invite people to the wedding." " My parents would take care of that" Minutes later, the two ended the call and Daisy went to bed with a wide smile on * * "two days later" It's been hours already and everyone present in the hall were shaking their heads in disapproval and talking in hushed tones. Daisy was already dressed in her wedding gown and was impatiently waiting for her groom who is yet to arrive. Just as some guest stood up to leave, Marvin walked in elegantly. He was dressed in simple denims and a casual t-shirt. He took long strides to the altar and spoke to the priest rudely... " let's get this done with." Dearly beloved, we are gathered here to witness the joining of our son Marvin William and our daughter Daisy Domergue." Turning to Daisy he asked. "Do you miss Daisy Domergue take, Mr Marvin William as your lawfully wedded husband... to love and to cherish, in sickness and in health till death do you part?" " I do" " Do you Mr. Marvin William take Miss Daisy Domergue as your lawfully wedded wife to...." " No I don't.." His reply was firm, shocking everyone present and causing the guests to release surprised gasps while some stared at the bride pitifully. “ Marv ..." " I can't marry a used woman Daisy, you should have made your character as good as your face and your acting skills... I'm done here... Mira is a better candidate to be my wife." His words were harsh and it came with a stinging pain that pierced through her heart. He turned and walked out of the hall without looking back. " At last dear sister you lost to me again." Mira taunted before leaving the hall too. One after the other, the guests left the hall leaving just Daisy to her fate.
