Chapter Forty Four
My palms were sweaty and my heart was beating fast as I watched him key the ignition and get the car engine roaring before he immediately took off into the road. Where was he taking me? I had so many questions on my mind. Where was Hailey when all of this was happening? They were newly married and he was only due to return tomorrow and I was not expecting him to be here. I thought I would have one last day to sulk and eat my sorrow away before I am forced to face the reality that he was truly gone and only gone because people will just not let us be together.
I had already made that decision and helped it be that way by not telling him the truth when I had the chance. But what was I to do? I truly believed at the time that it was the very best thing that I could do,
