Chapter 5: Decoding the Secrets

The goddess Thalia worked on the book for days, deciphering the style of language of the old writings as well as she could, and translating them to the best of her ability. Her sisters Elara and Aric listened to the whispers as she worked, detecting what extra information the whispered words may have added. Soon the translation was done, and Thalia revealed what the whispers were about, whence they came, and what the whispering had revealed.

‘The book tells the story of Eldoria,’ Thalia told me. She was shaking with excitement. ‘About the Heart of Eldoria. This powerful gem was placed beneath the village to keep it safe from people who would use it for their own ends. The whispers are the guardians of the Heart, telling those who would keep it safe, and warning those who would misuse it.’

Elara’s eyes went wide. ‘So the whispers… they’ve been trying to lead us to the Heart all along? But why? Why tell us this only now?

Thalia smiled, her gaze as benevolent as it was serene. ‘The Heart sensed a potential menace, a darkness that has sought to poison its purpose, and it chose you, Elara, because of your goodness and your probing nature. And you, Aric, my brilliant companion, because of your wisdom and your resolve.’
