Chapter 7: The Battle for Eldoria

They strengthened the defences around the village, laid traps in the path to slow down the Seeker’s advance; and Elara, Aric and Thalia stood ready at the head of the line, intending to sacrifice themselves rather than let the Heart fall into the hands of the Seeker. The whispers directed them – how to pick up clues to his movements on the other side of the snow; how to predict his patterns and strike before he could respond.

The advancing Seeker army was met with resistance as the villagers fought back throughout Eldoria, a mixture of terror and courage evident in their every move. As Elara and Aric fought, the magic of the Heart resonated within them, pushing back the shadow energy; the Heart was awakening.

Still, the fighting went on for the better part of a day – until finally the villagers, helped by the Starwhispers, managed to outflank the forces of the Seeker from the Heart of Eldoria. In a grand finale of clashing blades, the bowstrings singing, Elara and Aric fought a duel to the death with the Seeker who at last, defeated – and out of place – was banished to the outside world, the Heart of Eldoria returning to its proper home in a place of safety.
