Amelia
"Stop pretending to be weak just so I’ll care about you."
I struggled to open my eyes wider, forcing my blurry vision to clear.
"That’s never going to happen."
Finally, I realized Liam was staring at me coldly, his face twisted with contempt and a disgusting anger.
My body was still so weak and trembling, and his words tore my heart apart. Thinking about his behavior, it was always like this. Liam had never treated me kindly or gently.
“…I’m not pretending, Liam.”
His large hand gripped my shoulder roughly, almost forcing me back down onto the bed.
"You’ve always been a liar and cruel, Amelia."
His rude voice cut through the silence. The air around me seemed to thin under the weight of his accusations.
The disdain in his eyes shattered me.
Slowly, I reached up to touch his hand, trying to push it away from my shoulder where it pressed down so harshly. But Liam immediately yanked his hand back as if my touch disgusted him.
These three years of marriage had been hell for me—an endless torment that left me feeling utterly alone.
If that hadn’t happened, maybe I wouldn’t be living like this now—a blood bag for Sophia, Liam’s lover… my sister.
The truth is, I fell in love with Liam. From the start, I could never tear my eyes away from that blue-eyed man. He had a deep, mature laugh, broad shoulders, and a flawless body. His face… I would say he looked like a god, with a strong, defined jawline.
He was the perfect combination, and I admired him in secret because he belonged to Sophia.
I remember it so clearly, even when he met me, Liam would always ignore me. His love for Sophia was so strong that it made me envious.
Thinking about my hidden love, I knew deep down that we could never be together. And then today… ah, the thought still suffocates my heart.
I woke up after sleeping with Liam. It was a shock that left me speechless when he opened his eyes and looked at me with anger, blaming it all on me.
But I can’t remember what really happened.
It became even worse when Sophia found out Liam had slept with the sister she despised.
I knew that besides the disappointment and rage, Sophia’s pride was shattered at that moment.
Then Sophia had an accident that left her in a coma. After that, Liam’s anger toward me only grew—over and over, he cursed me and broke my heart. But I still continued loving him, trying to hold on, convincing myself that this really was all my fault.
I was so sure it was my fault.
My family, Liam—everyone said I was a wretch who destroyed her own sister.
They ignored me and gave all their attention to Sophia. And I had to atone for my sins, because Sophia’s blood was the same Rh- type as mine. Believing I needed to pay for what I’d done, believing that maybe then my family would accept me, I became a blood bag for Sophia.
Whenever she needed blood, I had to be ready — no matter what condition I was in.
I thought it couldn’t get any worse. But then… I found out I was pregnant with Liam’s child.
The Bianci family and my family—the Haighs—had already sent out wedding invitations for Liam and Sophia’s marriage: a union between two powerful families that would strengthen business ties. Because of what happened, they forced me to marry Liam, even though I didn’t want to.
But… once again, I couldn’t fight back.
In the end, I married Liam, telling myself maybe this time I would finally receive his love. That was a huge mistake.
A nightmare — the worst nightmare. I became the object of revenge for Liam, my family, and his family.
Even while carrying his child, I still had to give blood to Sophia…
"Remember, the only reason you exist is to give blood to Sophia." Liam’s hand clenched into a fist. "You have to atone for what you did."
Liam then walked out of the room, leaving me clutching my chest, trying to ease the pain that was suffocating me inside.
It was unbearable. Even though I’d endured this so many times, I never got used to the pain they caused.
… Alone again in this room.
"I’m not lying…" I murmured softly.
But my voice would never reach Liam.
After giving blood to Sophia, I passed out. The doctor had actually told Liam about this, but he didn’t care, he just said it would be fine once I got some glucose. He blamed me and never cared.
What was I expecting? I’d always known his eyes were only ever on Sophia Haigh.
With what little strength I had left, I finally made it home. My body was still so weak, but I had to come back because I wanted to see Julian—my son, whom I gave birth to two years ago.
He has Liam’s blue eyes and my brown hair. The only good thing I have in this life—the one thing that’s kept me going all this time.
I stepped into the house and met the gaze of a woman with the same eyes as Liam. Her cold expression pierced straight through my chest.
"Mother…"
She put Julian, whom she’d been holding, down on the floor and looked at me with contempt.
"Where have you been?" She always judged me. "Can’t you act like a proper mother?"
It wasn’t just Liam who was cold toward me, every time I saw his mother, it drained me completely. The pain was unbearable because in her eyes I always saw a deep, burning hatred for me.
Sophia was the woman she had approved of to marry Liam. Because of that, she treated Julian coldly, too. I always felt unwanted and unwelcome.
Whenever they gathered together, I felt like we were pushed aside—like strangers.
I pretended nothing was wrong in front of Julian, talking to him with a smile on my face.
My thoughts drifted away when Julian hugged my leg. I looked at him with a smile and picked him up in my arms.
He shouldn’t have to experience the same cold treatment I did.
"Listen to me—your child is just like you."
Sarah pointed at me. That harsh voice of hers always made my body tense up and freeze.
I tried to bury all my anger in that moment, because she could always do something worse.
"He still can’t say anything properly except ‘mama’?" She sneered. "A stupid child, isn’t he?"
"Mother, please stop saying things like that to him. Julian isn’t stupid."
I held him tightly against my chest, hoping Julian wouldn’t hear any of those cruel, hurtful words.
My heart was pounding so hard.
She snorted harshly. "If only that child were Sophia’s, then he would be a genius."
For some reason, I never wanted to admit that Sophia was smarter than me. She was always said to be more beautiful than I was—that I could accept. She had thick, straight, shiny hair and a face like an angel.
She looked so charming and elegant, so many men confessed their love for her, and only Liam had managed to win her heart.
But… I knew Sophia well. She was actually harsh and often ordered me around to do her tasks.
"Mother, please—"
"Enough. You will never be a woman Liam could love."
Again, words that cut deeper than anything.
"And now you’re also a useless mother." She sneered.
She walked away, leaving me standing there, clutching Julian tightly. Still frozen in place with a hard expression. Words harsher than any slap, words that made my body tremble…
