I stood in the doorway. The moment Nathaniel saw me, the tension in his face released, his expression softening into something that looked almost like relief. I glanced around the room. Every other man had a woman beside him, none of them familiar faces. It seemed the girls from a few months ago had already been rotated out. I turned to leave, but Ryan stepped in front of me, already waving the women toward the door. "Don't get the wrong idea, Evelyn. They just came along with us, that's all." Nathaniel moved his jacket off the seat beside him to make room. Ryan started steering me toward it. I stopped him. "Don't break up the party on my account. Call them back.
