Chapter 2: A World of Struggles

It was a bright Monday morning that felt like the start of something new. A new chapter of my life began, the last year of high school.

My mother called from downstairs. Daffodill, if you don't hurry up, you will be late for school on the first day of your senior year. I am going to work. Please eat breakfast and go to school. Message me if you need something. Bye.

Daffodil: Yes, Mom, I am coming.

Suddenly, the doorbell rings.

It's her friend Stephani

Daffodil laughed. "You’re always five minutes late. Some things never change."

"Whatever," Stephani rolled her eyes. "I'm just saving energy for school. It’s going to be a loooong day."

A moment later, another voice chimed in from behind. "You two gossiping without me again?"

It was Riya, balancing a tiffin box in one hand and holding a novel in the other.

"Good morning, Miss Bookworm," Stephanie teased.

"Good morning, Miss Lazybones," Riya shot back.

The three of them burst into laughter, the kind only true friends could share. As they continued walking, their conversation flowed easily.

"I heard the new school building has a huge library," Riya said, her eyes shining.

"I heard the canteen serves samosas on Fridays!" Stephanie added eagerly.

"And I heard there’s a super strict math teacher everyone’s scared of," Daffodil said with a dramatic shiver.

"Great. Just what we need to ruin the party," Stephani groaned.

"But think about it," Riya said thoughtfully. "Last year of high school, new teachers, new memories. It’s like a fresh chapter, we have to live our last moments of school life together."

"I hope it’s a fun one," Daffodil said softly. She looked at her friends and smiled. "As long as we’re together, I think it will be."

The school gate appeared ahead, bustling with students. The girls exchanged a quick group hug before stepping inside, ready to face the adventure of the last year of high school together.
