Green River Pack, Oregon
The last light from the sun was slowly vanishing from the atmosphere. Lena had been looking at the sunset from her window. The sky had turned into a beautiful canvas filled with every shade of pink and orange one could imagine, yet it hadn’t made her any less gloomy. The blood painted words from the Paper Birch Clearing were seared into her mind, and the thought of what was about to happen didn’t help. Her emotions were as vast as the nuances of pink that coloured the sky but the picture they created were far less pretty and way more chaotic.
“Knock knock.”
Lena turned to see Anders standing by the door. She gave a small smile.
“Who’s there?”
Anders let out a small chuckle.
“Uhm… Arwin.”
“Arwin who?”
Anders took a deep breath as he looked focused.
“Arwin ready to get to work?”
Lena huffed out a laugh.
“Emmas ready as I can be I guess.”
Anders smiled. Lena looked at her hands and started to clean her nails.
“I’m nervous, Anders. This is not just me trying to break into some unknown sphere. This is breaking into someone's mind and subconscious, and to make things even worse, it’s the mind of someone I’ve fled from.”
Anders nodded understandingly.
“You’ve fled before and faced the man you fled from. You can do it again.”
Lena smiled as she shook her head.
“Except it was way, way harder to run away from Logan. My heart shattered that day, it didn’t even break when I left Marcello. Moreover, I knew and understood Marcello. I have a very slim idea of what sort of person Logan really is. I genuinely don’t know how he’ll react.”
Anders inhaled deeply.
“You have to remember that the Moon Goddess assigns our mates for a reason. There’s a reason why you and Logan are fated mates. Besides, no one gets a mate who doesn’t compliment them. As long as you know your values are pure and good, then Logan’s values can’t be too far apart from yours. He’ll help you, even if you broke him.”
Lena snickered.
“Broke him… He wanted to kill Luke’s wolf, he knows I would hate him for that. I honestly think the man has been broken for many years.”
Anders just regarded her in silence for a couple of seconds before he spoke.
“I don’t know, Lena. He may be broken, but I think parts of him can be fixed. And I know he cared about you.”
Lena felt tears starting to form. She took a deep breath and shook it off.
“Well, let’s just hope he’ll listen. We need him on our side.”
Anders gave a firm nod as he stepped towards a chair and sat down. He gestured for Lena to go to the bed. Lena sighed as she slowly walked to her bed to lie down. When she had laid down, she closed her eyes and focused on her breathing.
“Now, we’ve worked with three ways to master the subconscious; Foresight, insight, and dream wandering. Though you’ve never actually done neither in our sessions, I’m fairly confident in your skills. Today you have to go through both insight and dream wandering, which will be hard. Since it’s still early, you have to use an insight strategy mantra before Logan sleeps. You can’t communicate with him during this stage, but you’ll be able to watch him. We have to know when he falls asleep. You won’t be able to reach his mind through dream wandering unless you enter just after he falls asleep. Then you’ll have to switch by waking up and doing your second mantra. You should find yourself in his dream then.”
Lena nodded.
“All right. Let’s just get this over with.”
Anders smiled slightly.
“I’m going to go. I think you should take this journey without supervision. However, if anything happens then call. I’ll free my mind in case you mind link.”
Anders then exited the room. Lena could almost hear her heart beating in the silence that ensued. After a while she once more closed her eyes and started to say her mantra…

Logan had just finished his run when he felt a weird sensation go through his body. He didn’t know what had happened, but he almost felt as if he was being watched. However, a part of him started to feel some warmth and he almost felt at ease from the strange presence. He scanned the perimeter to see if anything was lurking, but he couldn’t find anything out of the ordinary. He then shook off the strange feeling and proceeded to call Kendrick through his mind link.
“Kendrick, meet me at my office. Bring Patrick and Neil.”
He soon heard Kendrick’s voice in his head.
“We’ll be there in two minutes, Alpha.”
Logan quickly started running back. When he arrived at his office building, he changed back to his human form. He walked inside and put on the clothes he had left on a chair. He then made his way to his main office where Kendrick, Patrick, and Neil were waiting already.
“I think it’s time we looked into the house in Idaho. We can’t risk any more incidents as the one in Oregon. The situation has progressed further than we had hoped, but we still have an opportunity to perhaps stop some of them. When will the scouts return?”
Logan looked at Patrick, who in return looked grave.
“They should have returned this morning, Alpha.”
Logan furrowed his eyebrows.
“Have you called them?”
Patrick nodded.
“We have. No one has responded.”
Logan inhaled deeply as he felt his muscles tense. Kendrick stepped forward.
“Alpha, maybe it’s time we…”
“No.” Logan interrupted. “I need it to be a choice, not a forced action.”
Kendrick gave a small nod and stepped back again. Logan started to run his hands through his hair as he felt hopelessness take over. He quickly redirected his focus back to the room to avoid the emotion.
“Fine. Neil, I need you to assemble the greatest scouts we have. Go to the Idaho location but do not get too close. We need to understand it before we attack it and we can’t understand it or attack it if wolves keep getting killed by them.”
Neil looked displeased but gave a small nod. Logan frowned.
“Do you have an issue with my command, Neil?”
Neil started to look nervous as he answered.
“No, Alpha.”
He bowed before he left the room. Logan then turned to Patrick and Kendrick.
“I’m going to try to get some rest. We’ll meet at 7.00 sharp tomorrow.”
Both men bowed as Logan left the room.
It didn’t take long before he had reached his room. He stood outside of it, just about to open, when he slowly turned his head to look at the room located beside his own. He felt a stab go through his chest but quickly got rid of the feeling again. He took in a deep breath as he opened the door.
His room was dark and chilled. He started to undress when a voice spoke from his bed.
“Took you long enough. I’ve been waiting for hours.”
Logan didn’t look at the woman. He had sensed her the moment he had opened the door, but he hadn’t had the energy nor the wanting to acknowledge her presence.
“What do you want, Celeste?”
Celeste got up from the bed and approached him. She was wearing some laced, red underwear and her golden hair had been curled. She reached him and seductively started to unbutton his shirt.
“I thought that was obvious. I want you.”
She slowly started to lick her lips as she gazed into his eyes.
“I was lying all by myself when I started to have these flashes of visions. They were quite dirty.”
She leaned in as she started to lick his earlobe.
“I started to fantasize about riding you hard until you got bored and tied me up. Then you punished me in all sorts of ways and then I could feel myself getting really hot and wet. I would tell you more, but it’s quite embarrassing. However, perhaps I could show you instead.”
She backed away a bit and looked into his eyes. Logan could smell her arousal in the air and he could see the wanting in her eyes. He suddenly grabbed her arm and twisted it to her back as he pinned her against the wall.
“Your fantasies will be nothing in comparison to what I’ll do.”
Logan then ripped off her bra and underwear as he pushed her onto the bed.

Lena forced herself to wake up from her trance. Her breathing was rapid and she could feel tears trickle down her cheeks. She got up from her bed and quickly got into her bathroom where she sprayed some cold water onto her face. Lena pull yourself together. You have to speak with him, you have to. Images started to emerge into her head. All she could see was a very naked Celeste moaning from being roughly handled by Logan. Lena started to do ordinary stuff like brushing her teeth and sorting her clothes when she eventually had to face the music. She inhaled deeply as a single tear fell from her eye. She laid back down and decided to do the 'dream wandering mantra'. If it didn’t work then she’d have to god back and see Logan f**k another woman, so she prayed it worked. She started to breathe deeply as she said the mantra…

Lena woke up in a dark room. She couldn’t really see anything but she soon regained her vision. She was at the Lake Maroon Mansion. She was in Logan’s room.
She turned to see if Logan was anywhere, but he wasn’t. She got up and slowly stepped towards the door that led to the balcony. She didn’t think, she just did. She opened the door and saw a figure standing by the railing and looking at the landscape. She swallowed and cleared her throat silently.
“Logan…”
Logan turned around and Lena felt a shiver go through her entire body as she looked into his deep blue eyes.
