Chapter 3

Amelia's POV “How dare you reject me, Amelia? Do you not know who I am?" Johnson snapped as he lost balance when the pain of rejection hit him, his body staggering slightly despite his attempt to remain composed. I could hear his wolf whimpering from pain, but he was acting strong in order to mask it. I turned to leave because there was no other reason for me to keep on staying in the room with him. " I am an alpha, Amelia! Do you not know that if I accept your rejection, that a lowly omega like you isn't going to be able to survive it? You don't even have a wolf and are a shell. Do you want to have your wolf killed before she can even awaken?” he asked. For a second fear gripped me. But when I noticed the smug smile on his face, the way he expected me to break and crawl back to him and accept our bond again, I broke free from the momentary confusion. " Don't you dare leave, Amelia!” he went on shouting as he suddenly coughed up blood. He only wanted to keep me close because he didn't want to lose his wolf. Even until this moment, he was still after what he could get from me. " If you leave that door, Amelia, I'll accept your rejection and brand you a rogue! You know the rough life that will await you again! Come back here and to me now that I am still being nice. I won't be nice throughout!” he threatened, desperation now seeping through his words. “I already rejected you, Johnson. It's only proper for you to accept my rejection. I….” I went on to say but I was cut off before I could continue. " I accept your rejection, Amelia! I'll watch and see you die from rejection pains! I'll have you imprisoned while I'll watch you till you die a slow and painful death!” he snapped, his voice filled with rage. I heard the tapping of several feet and saw as numerous guards were approaching his chambers, their footsteps echoing down the halls. The pain of his rejection had only just hit me. As our bond snapped, I clutched my chest tightly. My chest was burning. Burning in a way that felt unnatural, like something was tearing itself apart inside me. This wasn't how a normal rejection pain was supposed to feel like and I couldn't explain it either. My breath hitched, my knees almost giving out beneath me. " We need to run or he'll have us imprisoned!” a voice said. I turned around instantly but found no one. It wasn't Johnson, who stood there with a smug expression, watching me like I was already dying and defeated. It wasn't Jennifer either. It couldn't be any of the guards, because I couldn't even hear the pack's mind link. Being a stray, Johnson's father had said that it was not needed for me to be able to hear it, as he suspected that I was a spy of their enemies. And for years, despite trying to prove myself, this stigma had clung to me like a curse. " Who are you?” I managed to whisper, my voice shaky and confused when I realized that the voice was coming from my head, yet I wasn't the one speaking to myself. " I'm Lola, your wolf. We need to shift right now but your body is too weak for me to take over. I'm trying to replenish you so I can shift and we'll get away from these bad guys. For now, try stalling them!” the voice said quickly before it went silent. My breath caught. I stared around me again, my confusion deepening as I tried to check whether anyone had heard her. What I couldn't understand however was the chest pain I was feeling and why she had said that my body was too weak for her when she's supposed to be a weak omega wolf as well. “You have nowhere to run to, Amelia. What are you going to do now?” Johnson mocked as he began to walk towards me, like a hunter closing in on prey. “Stay away from me, Johnson! You are of no use to me and I will never stay back here in your pack!" I snapped. " What is it you want? To be the leader of the pack's biker team? To be marked by me or what? What haven't I provided for you that you dared reject me for? You were poor and lowly and I improved the quality of your life by accepting you into my pack. I gave you shelter and food and what did you do? You felt that you were now too big to obey me because you managed to help me solve some issues my pack faced? You now see yourself as equal to me to refuse my orders?” Johnson went on snapping, his voice rising with anger and wounded ego. “I spent the past three years being with you and hoping to be appreciated for all my efforts, Johnson. You can go to hell with your promises! I do not want any of them again!" I shot back, my voice breaking at the edges but still holding firm. I didn't pay attention to him as my eyes darted towards the guards. They were all standing in front of the door and there was no way for me to escape. I pretended to jump over them and they moved, thinking that I was trying to break free. I used the opportunity to run out of the door, but the guards followed, trapping me in their middle and making it impossible for me to escape. The only route beside me was the open window but Johnson's chamber was on the last floor. I haven't heard from Lola to know whether I could shift now, so it was impossible for me to jump. " You dare keep on refusing me, Amelia! Where do you think you can run to now? You're surrounded by my men!” Johnson's voice came again. " We've always wanted her to leave the pack, Johnson. She's going on her own now. Shouldn't you leave her be and celebrate? Because we've finally gotten rid of her?” Jennifer asked as she walked towards him, trying to hold him back. Johnson snapped his hand away from her and pushed her. “Keep silent, Jennifer! Let her go? You're only the beta's daughter and good to bear my pups.! Who will manage the pack as well as the businesses? You're too dumb to do that, so who do you expect?" he barked. I scoffed as I heard him say that. That was the only reason he didn't want me to go. I closed my eyes and walked towards the window as I prepared to jump over it, accepting my fate even if I were to break a leg or die. Anything was better than staying here. Anything was better than him. " Leave her be! If she wants to jump to her death, then let her! No one should stop her! Her insolence to my name and authority has become too much!” Johnson snapped as I stood at the window, the wind brushing against my face. “You want to threaten me with your death? Then jump and die!" he added. I was about to jump when I suddenly felt my body elongating mid-flight. It felt like I was being torn apart and rebuilt at the same time. Bones shifting, stretching and snapping into place as a surge of power unlike anything I had ever felt flooded through me. I was able to leap from the window and land perfectly on the ground below, my body moving with a grace and strength that didn't belong to the weak omega I had always known myself to be. Before I could even process it, I leaped once more, crossing over the pack's walls in a single bound. I had shifted into Lola, my wolf. For a brief moment, I thought Johnson would give up and let me go but my problems had only just started. "Don't let her leave the pack! Capture her and bring her back alive! She has the prophesied white wolf all the packs have been searching for!” Johnson's father's voice boomed all over the place. " Ten thousand gold coins awaits who ever brings her back to me alive!” He added.
